Hang on...

After the the "check-in" incident, we're lead up to our room by the busboy. As he's describing the services, he apologised again for the behavior of the military & security. I must of had "P*****-OFF" flashing from my forehead...lol! We get into the room & Stivalis jumps into the bed...WITH ALL HER CLOTHES STILL ON!!!! She said it was freezing in more ways than just the attitudes in Bogota. It's only 9 in the morning & we don't have to be at the Embassy before 12:30, so we relax. Me & Stivalis talk awhile about racially relations in the U.S. As I told her before, the US isn't perfect in regards to race matters. But we wouldn't have experienced that bs in any hotel, that I've visited in the states.

We have the munchies, so after about an 90 minutes, we head down to the hotel restaurant(s). We hit the first restaurant & are greeted with the same dayyum stares from patrons & staff, that we got from those clowns in the lobby. Normally, I'll use my butchered spanish or let Stivalis do the talking...NOT THIS TIME!!! F&$# THIS PLACE Stivalis, we're outta here (in english)!!! As we head out the door & walk down thru the winding corridor, something told me to turn around....quickly!!! Well I'll be, if it ain't a planiclothes cop/hotel security creep! I tell Stivalis & she's puzzled by it all. I tell her, let's walk faster and duck around the next corner. We stop around the next corner, just out of his site. Within 5 secs, this clown is dayyum near jogging to catch up with us...lol! You shoulda seen how red his faced turned once I said, BOO!!!! ROTFLMAO!!! He tried to play it off, but he knew, he was stoned cold BUSTED...LOL!!!

Before we go into the next restaurant, I'm thinking, if the same s*$# happens again, we're using room service! As walk into the next one, no funny looks or stares....final-freakin-ly!!!! We take our seats & wait for service, and we wait for service! We're noticing other patrons being served coffee, before they go to the buffet table. This time, Stivalis takes the lead. Are we going to be served up in this piece or what? (Up in this piece or what?....man, Stivalis has been really listening to my convo's with my brah's back home...lol). The waiter informs us, that it's a buffet service here. We know that, said Stivalis. We also know, that you've been serving coffee to the other patrons BEFORE THEY GO GET THEIR FOOD!!!! Whoa!!! Handle yo bizness baby, handle yo Gat Dayyum bizness...lol! He quickly got us some coffee & chocolate! After we ate & paid for our meal, we decided to head to the Embassy. Walking along the corridor, we noticed the security creep. His back was towards us. As we passed him, we said, BOO!!!!

Next up, the Embassy visit....

Peace....Howard

Hang in there Hoda. The hell with such people. I was in Bogota last July and I noticed that most people in the airport were lighter skinned then Cali. It's a shame that people who are simply of a different skin color are treated like that. Although things get better at times, racism will always exist in some form or another. I think it's human nature. Hopefully we can find a way to rise above that.

The incident with the guard was really funny!

Tim.

Hey Pack,

They were definitely, without any question, Colombian officers! I couldn't tell you why they (the Colombian military) were there. The busboy told me who he was. Apparently, the hotel doesn't receive many black guess (No Shyt!!!) so our presence must activated some sort of black, err...RED flag in that single cell brain of his. Pack my man, not to harp on the issue but, many black men have inherited a keen sense of when we're being tagged by police/security radar....

I hate Bogota.

The altitude, the people were cold also, and we were bored to tears for the 6 days we had to stay there.

It has a lot of cultural centers, it is metropolitan,.

Remember what I said before, don't feel sorry for all these Colmbians, a lot of the people in Bogota make a bundle, and have real estate all over , like Miami.

Hi Hoda,

Ok since Bogota should not be a first choice looking for latinas of African decent, what do you think is the best city in Colombia or another latin country that has more respect for brothas and where more latina black sistas may be found?

Thanks,
Jazzy.

But she had a kid, 5 years old.  I wasn't ready yet.

Yo Jazzy,

It depends on your personal preference(s), we all have them. If you like your ladies darker, you can go to the coastal cities of Colombia (Cartegena, BQ, or my favorite Cali). Don't right off a lady if she happens to be a little lighter than you planned on finding. I've seen more inter-racial couples in Cali & have heard of more SUCCESSFUL interracial relationships in Cali, than I have seen here in NYC. Not to generalize, but the people in the other cities, seem to be less class & race conscience, than those of Bogota. Bogota is cosmo, no doubt about it. But there is no doubt in my mine, about how far BACK Bogota is in racial matters....

Peace & Good luck....Hoda
