Is it a good idea to have her visit here before the final decision to marry is made? Or not really important

My opinion is that it's good for both of you to spend as much time together as possible before making a final decision.  Unless you're one of those lucky guys with enough money and free time that you can spend months in her country, that pretty much necessitates having her come here.

I used a fiancee visa for my wife and we married on the 89th day of a 90 day visa.
