My novia said she has been fighting with her dad the last few months over some property she owns. Her dad bought both her and her sister two vacant lots worth about $25,000 a piece. They are right next door to the dad's house and both her and her sister do not care for the dad because he cheats on their mom. Both her and her sister want to sell the vacant lots and buy a 3-4 unit apartment building and rent them out. She wants her sister to live in one apartment and manage the building while my novia lives up here with me and split the profits 50-50. She figures she can make about $20,000 a year for both her and her sister. There father does not want to sell the lots because they have sentimental value to him. It seems like a crazy situation.

Greg, do a little math. Sell 2 lots @ $25,000 per = $50,000 to invest. 2 sisters each get $20,000 = $40,000 profit per year. That's 80% annual return, not to mention free lodging for one of them. Does that sound realalistic to you? Or does it sound like a Hilton/MCK pipe dream?

She is going to work like a dog here because she likes money, just like everybody else. As far as the real estate is concerned she is having a tough time convincing the father to sell the lot. If she is able to sell it $10,000 a year is not alot of money in Mexico. In Colombia I am sure $10,000 a year is alot but the cost of living in Guadalajara is about like Texas. An apartment in a decent neighborhood is still going to run you about $400 a month. In Mexico she had to work 60 hours a week to make $300-$400 a week with commisions and up here she can make $600-$700 working 60 hours a week with overtime. The main reason she wants to move up to the U.S. to live with me is because every guy she ever had in Mexico has cheated on her and she is almost 30 years old with raging hormones. That is the main reason my friend, but yes economics has a little bit to do with it also.
