I took the "you" in the second sentence as a reference to my most recent trip...

Tranquilo, don't blame you a bit for going low profile after the fake page incident. I think we've all hunkered down a bit after that.

She can't resist and he can't help himself.

Sorry to hear you don't feel like posting. I for one would enjoy hearing about your trip. Speaking for myself I'm only dumb and lonely when I'm sitting on my butt in the US. When I'm in Cali I'm brilliant and surrounded by bevies of beautifull women.

I know the feeling, ahem.....atleast I used too...lol!

Quit tip #1:
If you use a Notary, send him every document in english & spanish, notarized, authenticated & with the apostille stamp on it.

Quick tip #2:
The marriage visa from the Colombian Consulates in the USA, ARE FREE!!! You didn't hear me...I SAID FREE!!!!

Quick tip #3:
I had to supply a police report. From the NYPD, it's called a "Good Conduct Certificate". It varies from city to city. Go get one EARLY, if you & your lady are close to tying the knot. Document specs can vary from notary to notary. If you plan on having a reception. Let your lady handle it. Make sure she doesn't tell the agent, that she is marrying an AMERICAN!!!!

Good points and regarding #2 watch out for Mail Order Bride businesses that want to sell "imigration packages" for $100 or more. The forms included are all free at INS!

The only person I think you could say was trashed was MCK.I think he sort of brought it on with the weird way he talked about his novia plus always putting Colombia down.
We need real reports. Please post.We will nail anybody that gives you a bad time for truthfull posts.Matter of fact anybody who trashes someone who is just giving his experience should be bounced from the board.I think Patrick would agree we want to encourage posting of actual ecxperiences. Its when we get off in to opinion we get in trouble.

... in response to who got trashed?, posted by Pete E on May 19, 2002

All,

It is useful to exchange information and also opinions.  The "trashing" that offends some and offends me is when one poster makes an ad hominem (personal) attack against another.  "Ad hominem" is Latin for "marked by an attack on an opponent's character rather than by an answer to his contentions."

Would some of you agree with me that we should speak up and tell those making ad hominem attacks that those attacks are not welcome on this board?

Whoops! Lets not invite censorship here. If someone has strong opinions about attitudes or behaviors expressed in a trip report they should not be discouraged from expressing same. "Trashing" should be defined as completely unsubstantiated negative commentary and even at that shouldn't be censored. Instead it should be regulated as it usually is here most effectively by "mob rule".

The main form of trashing is a personal attack and we should try to stay away from that as much as possible.I wouldn't want to limit someone expressing an opinion, just don't attack people personally. You could strongly disagree without saying your an idiot(or worse),for example.
Civility,not censorship.
