Author Topic: Hilton...Give him the benefit of the doubt.  (Read 10558 times)

People,

I think the skepticism about Hilton has gone a little too far. I regret even posting my suspicions before. Even though I may currently have them.

But, I may be wrong about them. I can tell you one thing, not hearing from him does NOT mean that he's not there. Given that I haven't been to Colombia in two years, once I arrive and see all the ladies, I don't think I'll be to concerned about posting while I'm on vacation.

Second, for all the guys that want to question Hilton's life, one sure fire way would be to go to his website and buy his product; then try it out.

Look up EZInstallware on the web. If I can remember correctly, the product costs about $50.00.

If the program works well, then most likely he has been on the up and up about everything.

Hilton, if you come across this post, I apologize for posting my suspicions, if they are invalid.

However, let me give you just a little advice for the future, be careful what you tell people about yourself, and who you tell it to (LEARN NOT TO BRAG) because some will be jealous of you, falsely accuse you, and talk badly about you.

Take Care,
Aaron

... in response to Hilton...Give him the benefit of the dou..., posted by Aaron on Apr 29, 2002

Aaron I really did not pay to much attenion to Hilton until I read a post claiming he was in S.A. discussing race relations. I got a little interested in what I was missing and started to read his post. The more I read the more I got confused each and almost every post had something in it that made me wonder. Was he in 11 foster homes or 15? Was he a ward of the state at 4 or 5 years old. His mother was a druggie or well you all now. His father is a doctor? but I thought he was a ward of the stated that had a electrical cord wiped across his back and abused Hmmmmmmm.
Now I really wondered Hmmmm I love Google typed in his name and guess what around 1999 he appeared on several sites looking for a ideal to sell. One site he told everyone he was 19 turned 20 in nov 1999, so we see another problem I guess he is not 30 like he claimed here. Two months later after doing a little research he was a expert at increasing internet sales and traffic. On one site he claimed to have made $23,000 from his program in two or three days after a flame war started on another site that after awhile got deleted ( who knows why ). The site that he was using to peddle his internet plan to riches dissappeared ( I guess he made his million and packed his bags). Fast forward now his software company based in Joplin named MicroTek software has produced a new product. I myself am not the one to judge him on this product let the market do that. But he has been working on it for some time gets done and then leaves to S.A. Hilton now plans to run his company while living in S.A.
Some real holes start to show up as a member here tries to visit him in S.A. the hotel has no ideal who he is. All his post come from his web address in Joplin. Hilton post several times that he is in S.A. takes his laptop computer to the gym and uses to translate spanish so he can talk to a lady down there. Well I do not know about anyone here but I have yet to find a program that translate perfect english and spanish (if you find it let me know) But anyone can see the pattern here.
On his software company? Could care less more power to him. But I find most people that talk about money as if it is used to lit cigars with generally do not have a pot to piss in. Falsely accuse? Do some research read his post here and on other sites all talk that is it. He is on a site for 3 or 4 months and dissappeares never to be seen again. Jealous? of what? The only thing I have to say is if you could not afford or have the time to go to S.A. now you could have waited nobody here cared one way or another just don't jerk people around on this board most of us don't have big EGOS.
But good luck when you do go down there just try to grow up alittle first you might get burned down there.

Eveyone is entitled to their opinions about whoever and whatever. And still there is no credible evidence that suggests where Hilton is. At least, none that I came across.

Personally, I couldn't care less. I thought of the whole thing as being comical. I'm not up tight about it. Nor, do I find it worth my while to disect each and every line he has written. I have too many other things to do.

Fuzzy, I never insulted you, so I would appreciate the same respect.

You have no idea about the reasons why I haven't been to Colombia, or any other place for that matter; just speculations.

Let me give YOU some advice. Pay more attention to youself and your own household, rather than keeping tabs on everyone else.

Isn't that a mature attitude? You decide.

If you feel I insulted I am sorry the end of my last post was not aimed at you, it was aimed at Hilton. But let me correct you on somethings also... I do not keep tabs on everyone else I really could careless. I stated to look into what the guy wrote after what you posted. You see I try not to judge someone until I am sure. You seemed to have judged him then felt bad afterwards. Spend alittle time to read his post yea I know your time is too valuable my too... but ohhh never mine.

OK... I said I'd leave this alone... but you remind me of another thing...

One thing I found amazing was that the "hot topic" of discussion at the Gym he went to was racism. OK.. fair enough. There are certainly plenty of cases of it in America. But, the way the subject was brought up was the tale of the black man who was tortured by being dragged...

Not that this wasn't a horrible story... it's just that it was over a year old.

And the other references in his conversation were of Bill Clinton... who is also yesterday's news.

I can't answer for Bogota... but Brazil was a lot more current in their topics than that...

They wanted to know more about what we thought of September 11th and the war in Afghanastan.

The only discussion of Racism I can remember was whether we thought Denzel Washington and Halle Berry had a shot at winning the Academy Award...

I'm not so sure that I agree with you.

First off, no one here knows that the guy who runs EZInstall Software (which is, btw over $100, so I'm not buying it just to see...) is the same guy who is posting here under the name Hilton... do we?

Secondly, even if he is... how does the fact that he sells legit software make his posts about being in Colombia legit?

I work with software engineers every day. I have no trouble believing that one of the geeks I work with could go home and create an alter-ego, and see how far he could take the scam.

Heck, they do it for fun. Ever hear of Dungeons and Dragons? Ever see a MUD game? Or an "online universe?" Fake personas are part of the territory.

What makes you so sure that he and his buddies aren't in Joplin eating Imo's pizza, and laughing their as$es off?

Finally, I go back again to the posts...

While I agree with you that were I in Colombia seeing women, I wouldn't be a loyal poster here... the fact is that Hilton, supposedly, went there to study Spanish, run his software company remotely, and see what he could see. I'm assuming that he is checking back at the office of his tremendously successful software company.

I don't buy that he is so busy with his night life that he is not posting now.

When I was in Russia, I was cut off from everything, and only made it on a couple of times... but that was twice in ten days.

When I was in Brazil, though, I was there for work, and I was on the internet every day. (Although I didn't post anything while I was there because of the password thing... I didn't have my password, and I couldn't post anonymous anymore... But obviously Hilton doesn't have that problem, huh?)

Hilton was posting quite regularly from "Colombia" actually. A quick check shows he posted on 4/8, 4/9, 4/12, 4/13... then a slight jump (while he "travelled to Cali") and he posted again on 4/19, 4/20, 4/22... Regular again, now that he had re-established himself in Cali.

And then Wendell posts: "Hilton, where are you?" on 4/24... and suddenly the International Man of Mystery vanishes.

There is a firestorm of activity and speculation about it... and if I were Hilton, and I were reading this stuff... I sure think that I would respond... Wouldn't you?

I mean... you can give him the benefit of the doubt if you want... but if some of the guys are skeptical... they certainly have reason.

The important thing is that not everything posted here is fact. Trolls come in all shapes and sizes, and any newbes should make sure they do their OWN homework, and not just take what some poster on here says as Gospel.

YMMV

... in response to Feel free to, if you want... but..., posted by MarkInTx on Apr 29, 2002

just let things go for know. Forget it. It isn't worth the effort to investigate. If he is for real, then great. If not, hopefully someone wont get burned. And people will catch on.

My point was this, if he is telling the truth about his company, which is a way more difficult task to manage than visiting Colombia (I hope I don't insult anyone here), then he probably has enough gumption to travel and manuever in Bogota, Cali, Barranquilla, etc., etc.. However, if it did turn out that his software product is a fake, then it's more likely that his whole story is a fake.

Heck, let's use our imaginations. It wouldn't be hard for a con artist with computer savy to set up a quick web site selling some fake product. Then collect money from misled customers. The guy could even be in a third world country (like Colombia) pulling the entire scam while American customers are fooled. Then before you know it, after he collects a couple of thousands of dollars, he decides to disappear.

The truth is, we don't know where Hilton is. AND actually, he never gave us any reason to believe that he is lying.

For me what appeared suspicious were the following:

1.) He speaks limited Spanish, but he decides to travel to Colombia for 5 consecutive months. I find it very unlikely, and unwise, for a limited Spanish speaker to travel to Colombia for 5 months given the current events. I wouldn't do it, and I speak decent Spanish, and have been to Colombia in the past. My Colombian friends also wouldn't advise me to do that either given the current events. Within the past few months, the level of fear and concern has increased among Colombians there.

2.) The idea of 8 Spanish teachers, one for each of the 8 cities he visits doesn't seem realistic. How many guys have you come across decide to visit the Spanish teacher, instead of meeting with each pretty young lady they request to meet? On my first trip, I had no intention of having a Spanish teacher. I wanted to meet girls !!! I think that's human nature. After meeting people, I learned Spanish along the way, made friendships with Latinos in the US, and even took an introductory Spanish course at my University. I'm not fluent, but the rest will come with time.

However, he may be pulling this off succesfully. If so, I hope it goes well for him. No one likes to be falsely accused.

The claims and counter-claims are all out there now.

If Hilton ever returns to the board, then it merits more discussion.

For now, everyone can have their own theories, and we'll wait to see if he ever posts again...

I'm dropping it, too...
