Hilton,

I'm just curious.  It was your 1st real post about Colombia and you spent almost the whole post talking about race relations and the color of people's skin.

Out of all the subjects, why did you choose this one?

Feels a little like your bully pulpit on this board today.

I'm just trying to understand this.

Be safe,
Wayne

Wayne,

I'm naturally a curious 'vibe'.  I take things in stride and understand the truth behind scenes that most people wouldn't want to find out about.

My post made you felt uncomfortable enough to ask what you asked; obviously.  And, that's not a bad thing. I talked about that particular aspect of life, because, at this particular time, I was curious as to why I was feeling the way I felt; a feeling that I have never felt before.  This lead to other discussion, with Maria, which came directly out of her own questions.

All I did was discuss what she asked about.  If it was any other subject, such as Bill Clinton, I would have talked about that more.  But, I was giving her information that she asked about.

And, because of this, I was curious as to certain situations, in Colombia, that I knew were not happening in the United States.

Today and tomarrow will bring new experiences; not necessarily about race relations, but about life, the truth, and about what is really happening.

Peace....

I was wondering the same thing, Wayne. Funny, my Peruvian esposita has always maintained that color discrimination is more blatant and widespread in her country than here. Heck, there are businesses and other places in Lima that won't let her in unless she's dressed to kill and wearing her jewelry, or she's with a few friends that are "lighter", LOL.

My girlfriend in was surprised to learn there are strict laws against racial discrimination in the US. Where she works in Cali her current boss doesn't like blacks and simply won't hire them.

i was very surprised by hiltons post . i have been to colombia numerous times and met hundreds of people and not even one has ever mentioned racism in the USA. i do know that there is racism in colombia.
i think you can go just about anywhere in the world and find racism against some one.
as for bill clinton...a joke here and a joke in colombia.

Say what you will but the girls loved him on his trip to Cartagena also my ex-girlfriend in Santiago, Dominican Republic. He'd make out like a bandit if he ever found himself single in Latin America.

Pack,

Why are you surprised by my post.  Don't you know that I'm only telling you my experiences, while in Colombia.

Maria, by the way, is very educated, has finished her studies at a university and both of her parents are also very educated.

Some people will like my post and others won't like it.  That's not my issue nor my point for posting.  I'm posting to let you guys know about my experience.

Some people were telling me to post about my experience; so that's what I'm doing.

How peopel take it...well, that's a mental issue that they just have to figure out for themselves.

But, don't worry, I'll have plenty more experiences once I'm in Cali.

Tomarrow, I'll by flying out of Barranquilla and going to Bogota.

I'll be staying at the 5 Star Hotel called ANDINO ROYAL, in Bogota, for 2 or 3 weeks.  I choose this hotel because of the Modem Data Port that they have in rooms.

I'll let you and others know what my experiences are while in Bogota.  I may not post for a while because of the transition. But, eventual I will post something.

After my two or three weeks in Bogota, I will be halling tail to Cali.  I will write my daily logs to myself and will post them, on this board, on a daily basis, of what I went through while I was in Cali.  But, I won't do any posting during my three month period in Cali.

I will do this after I go back to the United States.  I have certain reasons for this.

It's all about the experience.  And, that's what I'm after...

Peace,

Hilton

"All about the experience"? And here I thought it was about finding that special lady and bringing her back to Joplin. Be carefull with that "experience" talk, you don't want to be labeled a "player".

Cali,

Don't worry bro, finding a wife is my first choice, but experiencing being in all these cities is just a side dish.

Like I said, I will be in Cali for 3 months.  Believe it, when I say, that I won't be doing any playing around....

Peace...

Hoda,

About being a gentlemen...

I told Maria that I can't and wouldn't give her any promises about anything.  So, she knows that there's a great possibility that I may never see her again.  Who knows...

But, in any case, I have set myself, and her, up for no disappointments.  Secondly, I set her up so that she wouldn't feel like I was playing around with her.

I told her the truth, I was honest with her, and she appreciated it so much, until she decided to give me her phone number(which I have taped to the inside of my labtop) even though she knows that the chances are slim that I will see her again.

I told her that anything could happen in Cali.

Who know....

Peace...

... in response to Save your money, posted by Michael B on Apr 9, 2002

Michael,

Thanks for the comment.  I can understand your logic on your behalf.

Unfortunately, it is not about being greedy or saving money; for me at least.  Everyone has their own road to travel.

For me, it's all about fulfilling my full intentions and course that I have set for myself.  For me, it's about 'living life and living it to the fullest'.  This means that I want to experience everything that I have on my agenda.

This takes discipline.

It's not about greed or money saving strategies, but it's all about discipline and the goals that I have set for myself.

But, in any case, thanks for your concerns.  It's much appreciated.

Peace...
