When I was in Colombia recently, one of the girls showed me her "National Identity Card".  I don't remember what it was exactly called.  She told me that it is required by all Colombia citizens, must be updated periodically, and shows she is not a criminal.  At the time I didn't think much about it, but now I am thinking this would be a useful thing to know about a woman.  Does anyone know the full story on this?

Thanks for the tip.  I looked up the word "cedulla" in my Franklin Electronic Dictionary.  The word wasn't there but it corrected and came up with "cedula de identidad" a Latin American identity card.
