Goliath,

I know how you feel. Post a message with good intentions and you get attacked from all angles. But don't let the
sharks on this board prevent you from posting. Some of us  find your information helpful. This was your assessment of Mexico based on your trip. Rather true or not, all opinions are helpful. We appreciate your input.

Ross2

YIKES, ROSS2!!!! So it's kool by you, for false, bigoted, up-side the head info, should just be accepted & not questioned? Midget, err Goliah, was incorrect about his opinions of COLOMBIAN women & gave a backhand insult. On top of that, he spelled the name of the country wrong. Why shouldn't we correct him?

Later....

Hoda,

You are misunderstanding what I said. Of course we need to correct people who post wrong info. But can we do it in a more civilized manner? Lighten up. You can criticize people without being so venomous.

Ross2

One of the other things that this comes across as (to me) is a lack of acceptance for diversity of thought and ways of expression.  You seem to say, don't post this way and really not spend much time offering alternatives.  Also, if we are all adults here, and you're advocating changing how people speak and act, you might want to wait more than a week after you were unbanned.  It doesn't seem like your house is too clean either.

Another option would be to simply not read his posts.  I know I don't read some posts just because of the name, since I've seen time and time again how it is a waste of bandwidth because of lack of information or the person is very offensive.  And on the other side of the coin, I sometimes read posts about topics I'm not interested in because of the person's name.  Names tend to stand out one way or the other sometimes.

Still another option would be to just consider what someone writes in context.  Some people tend to be more dramatic and some people seem to be more flat in their expressions.  As long as it's within the range for the board guidelines, really no need to try to pound everyone into one mold.

Also, I hope you can clarify, by posting someone needs to lighten up and that they are venomous, you're not trying to label someone that you disagree with are you?  And if you bring up the point once and the person disregards it or disagrees with it, do you really think you can win an argument by repetition of the same thing again and again?

Well, I hope you'll consider this and welcome back.

99.9 percent.....

That's what came from Goliah's post. I didn't see you question him on it! Applying such an absurb percentage in a "NEGATIVE" way to a class of people is what's VENOMOUS! But you failed to see that! Or maybe you believe him! I don't & along with others, we let him know it!

The misunderstanding is on your part.....

Hoda,

Yes, you're right.   99.9 percent is an obsurd number.
Most of what Goliath said was not true. I have never been to Mexico and my knowledge of it is minimal, but even so
I can still say that he his assessments were off the mark. I left the posting to the more knowlegeable, but I could have posted anyway. Either he had bad intentions or he isn't too observant, or both. But he didn't seem to be malicious in his intent.

You're saying..

"Either he had bad intentions or he isn't too observant, or both. But he didn't seem to be malicious in his intent."

It doesn't make sense to me how someone could have bad intentions and not be malicious in their intent.

Keep in mind that Patrick deletes the most extreme insulting posts, so it has created a different, indirect style of insulting posts so that the Troll can stay longer and get more people upset.  When Patrick deletes a thread most people don't even know it existed.  A good example would have been the Russian board a few weeks ago, almost the whole page would be filled with garbage, then it would be deleted almost back to where the archive starts.

Why shouldn't we correct him?

Well, because there is a large percentage of people in the US that have fallen into the Everyone is Exceptional propaganda.  So you have people fat, lazy, and stupid because everyone has excused them all their lives and God forbid if someone actually held them responsible.  It's like a Union shop, hey slow down!  You're making the rest of us look bad.  So you get one person crying like a baby when people don't fall all overthemselves thanking them in gratitude for a stupid post, why would someone else want to jump in, to preserve the rights of the stupid and thoughtless.

But OMG what's wrong with you!  To have limits on the stupidity that you will endure without question.  It's almost like you think, decide, and take responsibility.  You're a threat alright. Smiley

These are the same people that settle in other areas of their lives too, so don't expect much from them.

Hey Ross some of his information was helpful? We should just disregard the insulting, misinformation part.....right? I have to say this, it is passive attitudes like this the contributed to the events on 9/11. To bad Ross, not everything is acceptable, and individuals should accept the backlash if they post absurd statements.

Craig,

I agree that some posts deserve criticism, but some people on this board (I'm not saying you) seem to always be in the
"attack mode" when posting a message. Backlashing someone
for a misspelled word is taking it a bit too far, don't you think? It is posts like this I'm referring to.

Craig,
I am going to Mexico in June.  Before I post anything about it I will send you a rough draft to approve.  I sure don't want to be responsible for another terrorist attack.

OK Texas Rob........should I respond or should I waste a few minutes of my time explaining the situation to you. I should have understood that it takes a little bit of insight for someone to have understood the message in my post. Well, it's OK......that's why when they print the New York Times they also have a large funnies section for folks just like you...Good luck in Mexico.
