You're probably right.

"invite us into the tent to see the 'live Barranquilla women'" -lol.

That was a good one. Wink

Ross,

I don't have a very good connection either, down here in Brazil.  Something that you can do that will help you would be to right click as you're typing, choose select all, then right click, and choose copy.  Then if you lose connect you can just paste your message back in.

Hope that helps.

I never liked the idea of a tour party.  I much prefered a one-on-one experience where you can talk and get to know each other in privacy without an agency representative or translator between yourself and the lady to a party where translators are needed by most just to have a conversation.  I guess it's a refreshing experience for men after spending time in US night clubs where the men usually outnumber the women, but it's never appealed to me.  Does everybody wear name tags and wander around like school children at a holiday party?  That's the impression I've always had in my mind about these tours.  If that's what it's like, then I'd feel like an idiot at one of these parties. I'll have to admit that I never tried one though, so I'm basically talking out of my culo.

So, did you meet any ladies who you think you may have a future with?  Did you go out with any of them outside the party?  Are you still in contact with any of them and plan on a return visit to get to know her better?  That's the kind of information that would be welcomed.  You'll have to admit that a brand new participant who comes here with a story only lavishing praise on an agency with no details on how the experience furthered his goals does sound like shilling.  Why not go into some details about the experience focusing on why this was so much better (besides head counts) than other agencies and in what way tours are superior to other venues and methods of meeting women?

Patrick,

I will gladly go into details about my experience. You need
to bear with me because I work long hours so my response time may be slow. I'm on call now so if my beeper goes off
I will cut this short.

I met numerous ladies but I narrowed it down to three by Monday. I am most interested in a 27 year old lawyer, very attractive, petite, sexy, and fun to be with. I went to Cartegana where I met her family. She is marriage potential
but I like to go slow, especially after this nightmare of an experience with a woman I met in Cali last year (another story).

Anyway, I was also interested in a 25 year old nurse who was very sweet and mature, not to mention beautiful. We went out several times during the week but I decided to narrow it down to one. Perhaps I should have kept my options open just to play it safe.

I plan to return to Barranquilla in a few weeks to get to know the lawyer better.

Let me post this now before my server cuts me off. I am
not a computer expert.

Ken,

Among the agencies I visited, two of them are out of business: Latin Love and Latin Connections. I know that is old news. So the only agencies I can comment on for your sake are Latin Encounters, Latin Best, and Latin Models.
I wouldn't visit Latin Models since the owner has a bad reputation. Also, although some of the ladies were beautiful, others had no business being in an agency called "Latin Models". The price to join was over two thousand last year. I don't know what it is now. Other B&B agencies are much less. I was most impressed with Latin Encounters, but that is just my opinion. If you visit Latin Best, you won't be dissappointed. Margaret, the owner of Latin Encounters, was warm and helpful, and seemed honest.  I thought her catalogues looked more professional. Both agencies have hundreds of attracive women in their catalogues. I haven't been to Cali for a year, so you may want to talk to other guys before you go. Have you purchased the "Two gringos guide" yet? When I bought it it was $25. I found it extremely helpful. Let me know if you want more details.

I don't know about the rest of the gringos on this forum, but I've had nothing but bad experience with Latin Encounters and Latin Brides. I believe that Latin Brides owns both agencies (if I'm mistaken, please correct me) as I received an email from Ray, the owner or facilitator of Latin Brides claiming that to be the case. It makes sense since I received terrible service from both. The Latin Brides thing was stupidity on my part so I won't go into that too much. Latin Encounters is a different story. They advertised e-books of the ladies on the website to include photos, bio, an intro video, the lady's email, etc. I payed for a couple of these at $20 a pop well over a month before my last trip to Cali. I never received them. I kept sending emails to Margareth inquiring about them and never received a response. Finally, about a week before my trip I received a response claiming that I would receive the ebooks within a couple days, never happened. I was hoping to at least email these ladies I was interested in to let them know I would be in town if they wanted to meet. I'm not into buying memberships, so I figured this would be a good way to meet a couple ladies I was interested in. 2 days before I was to leave Cali, I received the intro videos only of the ladies. No bios, no photos, no email address as promised. I called the agency and asked about this and they claimed that I got what I had paid for. I did not spend very much money on these "ebooks" but I still felt I was ripped off. It seems that unless you shell out several hundred dollars for a membership, they could care less about you. A lesson learned I guess. I'll never do business with them again. Wait a minute, What am I complaining about? If I had ended up meeting these girls I might never have met my girlfriend Johanna. Never mind, just avoid being ripped off like I was. Sorry my post was so long. I'm long winded even I'm writing it seems...

... in response to Re: Latin Encounters, posted by papa suave on Mar 7, 2002

I spent 3 weeks at Latin Encounters and met my wife there.  Yes, the place is not perfect and the management is not up to what you would expect in the States.  But don't write the place off completely.

I watched them writing those e-books while I was there.  The problem is that they were selling the product before they were finished interviewing the girls and writing the copy.  Not real smart.  Margareth has some knuckleheads working for her.

If you go there, you can buy a travel membership for 69.00 per night and stay at the B&B. All services included. This  price is good for 6 days, then it drops to 35.00 per night including a very simple breakfast.  There are advantages to staying at the B&B.  The girls come and go frequently and it's alot of fun.  If you are dating different girls from the agency, it is very convenient to be able to go up to your room and relax between dates.  I liked this very much.  But...the place is noisy, and the two rooms in front have alot of traffic noise.  The big room in back is nice and quiet if the music isn't blaring all hours of the day and night.  Babies screaming, loud music, traffic.  It's a scene to say the least.

But...there are some really incredible girls there that are sincere, sweet, and attractive.  And, it's some of the most fun I've had in my life.  The people working at the agency, (Shirley, Anna, etc.) are very warm hearted and will do anything for you.  Yes Margareth is a little bit of a shark and tries to squeeze every penney out of you, but you have to understand that this is Colombia and she is supporting 3-4 freekin families where the Colombian hombres are unemployed, or won't get off their butt and go to work.  So, she has alot of pressure on her to put food on the table.  And, I did see kids go without dinner in that house because of lack of food.  (If you go there, buy some food please.)

So yes the place is run by some people that have little education and can't write a business plan or customer service policy.  But it's Colombia!  Some things are unpleasant, but you have to take the good with the bad.  If they got a little of your money for an e-book that they never delivered, I promise you that your money bought some food, so don't feel bad.

Margareth has her girls best interest in mind and if you are a good guy, will help you make it happen for your future.  She did some things that really angered me when I was there, but I haven't walked in her shoes.  Live and let live.  I looked on her website recently and saw several girls that are absolutely catches.  I know them personally and they are just waiting for the right guy.

Sorry this post is a little confusing and disorganized but it's kind of like Colombia...

Take care,
Wayne

Dear Everybody:

I also liked Margareth very much.  She was very generous with me and always included me in her family's activities.  I feel that it is especially difficult for her because she does had so many distractions in her life, but she definitely can be counted upon as a friend by me.
I was scared senseless my first time in Cali before I met my wonderful wife and I can thank Margareth's honesty, goodness, and yes, bluntness for helping me cut to the chase
and meet the love of my life.
I met 10 nice ladies and thanks to Margareth's woman's intuition she matched me perfectly with Mrs. Right.

I just noticed this little comment:

"If they got a little of your money for an e-book that they never delivered, I promise you that your money bought some food, so don't feel bad."

I'm sorry Wayne that these people are poor, but it is not my responsibility to ensure that food is put on their table. That hard earned money I spent would have put food in their mouths regardless of whether or not I received the services I paid for. They got their groceries, I got shafted. It must be OK then to pay out a couple thousand dollars for a lifetime membership to an agency that goes belly up 6 months later. I shouldn't be upset or feel cheated because what's really important is I helped to feed the crook's family? Give me a break. Be sure to let all the guys who got screwed by Latin Connections know about this.

Congratualtions Wayne,

I am glad it worked out for you. I'm sure that many others like yourself had a positive experience with Latin Encounters. Unfortunately I was not one of them. I just feel it is necessary to report negative as well as positive experiences with any agency.

My experience was negative as well as positive.  Read my post again.  The agency has it's good as well as bad.  Sorry to minimize your losing 60.00.  You're right, this sucks.  Much of the way they do business really sucks.  But, you are going to waste some money in this endeavor.  It just happens.  My first date, I spent a hundred bucks because I ended up in an expensive restaraunt that this dinner girl just loved.  I suggested pizza...  Things happen and it ends up costing money.
