Hola mis amigos:
I am sure that most here do not know me as it has been quite some time since I posted or even stopped by here. However, I thought that some of you may interested in hearing a little about my last trip.
I have traveled to a few cities in Colombia in the past. And I was about to return to Bogotá for 2 weeks this past month, but at the last minute, family issues prevented my trip. After tending to things here, I still had a free week & decided to take a quick trip to GDL, since it is only a 2.5 hour flight out of LAX. Besides, I had been talking with Terry Graham of Mexican Matchmakers for the past year about making a trip "someday" & decided that someday had come.
First, let me say that I am extremely happy that I made the trip, short as it was, and recommend you all consider visiting there if you are so inclined. I very much appreciated the short flight (compared to the looong trip from the West Coast to Colombia), as well as the fact that many folks in GDL speak English. Altho I have picked up Spanish over the past 2 years, it is "Gringo Spanish" & it sure makes things alot easier when you can revert to English if needed. Additionally, many more Mexicans are already familiar with our country & culture, which makes for easier & more comfortable conversation.
Now to the subject you are all interested in hearing about -- las mujeres! Most I met were MUCH more attractive than their photos, which, actually, was my experience with most Colombianas I met as well. Except for a couple of occassions, I was not disappointed upon meeting the ladies in person. Overall, I would have say that the ladies in GDL are very similar to those found in Bogotá. By that I mean they wear a few more clothes than Caleñas, probably due to the similar climates. Altho I think that GDL may have a slightly warmer climate overall than Bogotá. Also, many of the ladies at MM were professionally employed. Therefore, citas required a bit more scheduling in GDL than in Colombia. However, the staff at MM is excellent and they ensure that you are not bored. And, most importantly, none of the gals that I met appeared to be desparate to meet a Gringo. If anything, some seemed apprehensive at times about the agency venue. This is understandable given the fact that most of these women have something going for themselves, come from good families, live in good homes, drive nice cars, & do not NEED to leave the country.
Prior to my visit I had heard that the Mexicanas were more conservative than Colombianas -- I found that to be true. For example, I never saw ladies coming by the agency to "hang out", as in Cali. However, these ladies are by no means prudes & are very affectionate if they have an interest in you. And they expect us to act like caballeros, such as: you call them if you are interested in seeing them again, opening doors, helping them with their coats, pulling out their chairs at dinner, etc. Just basic manners that we were all taught when growing up -- or should have been. The nice little bonus is that many of the ladies speak English and drive cars. I almost didn't know how to act the first time a lady came by the house to pick ME up for our date. Altho I adapted quickly, for some reason opening a car door for the lady on the driver's side just didn't feel right to me.
In summary, I was very pleased with my trip, the ladies that I met, the agency & its people. As usual, I met some great guys on the trip & had alot of fun & laughs with them as well. Terry, the agency owner, lives at the house, knows most of the ladies by sight and is a good guy. I plan to return soon, like a few other guys that I met down there. I still love Colombia, but IMO, Mexico is every bit worth the trip. Maybe even more so right now given the unfortunate events currently unfolding in Colombia during the last week.
Buena suerte a todos,
D
