My fiancee is coming to the US soon.  Does anyone have advice on which airport has a better (easier, faster, etc) for the immigration process:  Miami or Atlanta?  Thanks in Advance.

My fiancee came into Atlanta on Sept. 3, 2001 on her K-1  visa without any problems. Several people had recommend Atlanta to me when I asked this same question about a year ago. My wife had visited the US many times prior on her tourist visa. She remarked the immigration officers in Atlanta were more pleasant and helpful than those she had encountered before in Miami and New York.

I have no idea about Miami vs. Atlanta since I live near San Francisco but I assume you live on the east coast. I made it a point to pick SFO when I flew home with my wife because I didn't want to have to deal with customs and immigration checks on the east coast or be biting my nails trying to catch a connecting flight to the west coast or waiting a couple of hours for some connecting flight. SFO was my first, last, and only flight in the US. I realize you might not have the luxury of having an international airport near your home but if you do I'd make it my only stop in the US.

It turned out nicely at SFO too. The immigration officer was very kind and helpful, asked neither of us any questions and let my wife through in about 5 minutes. Our interview at the Embassy in Bogota went exactly that way too. No questions, no interview! We got her visa 15 days after we first submitted the petition to the Embassy!

Sol,

Was yours a fiance (K-1) visa or a spousal visa?

Mine was a spousal visa. It took about an hour of waiting around on 12/26 to file the petition. Then, on 1/10, we showed up before 7:00, got #11 in the queue, and by 3:30 we had the visa. We even got to leave for three hours in the middle of the process to have lunch.

I hear that fiance visas take much longer to get, several months, I believe.
