it seems to me that u r hitting the nail right on the head. the first thought that crossed my mind when i read this story was the abuse act.

I doubt that that's what's going on, but it's a possibility that should be considered.  Unless someone has family and/or friends here that could support her, I don't think many women would be that agressive in seeking a green card.  All alone on a foreign country (and probably speaking only a little English) makes it tough to get a job, a place to live, etc.

I know a lot of men are willing to come accross the border with no support, but men are more aggressive than women and generally more confident in those types of situations.

John himself stated that she's probably more flaky than a fraud.  He sounds like a pretty sharp guy and I'm sure he'll handle the situation well.

John, if I were you, I would start looking for someone else. Seriously, why would you want someone who is in a complicated situation? I'm NOT trying to be sarcastic by any means. after you question her story and carefully watch the look on her face. I think it would be real hard to tell if she is feeding you a line of BS or not. Also you might ask her if its ok to question her relatives back home if they got the same story. Good Luck my man, Ben
