I have had my share of experience with day-to-day corruption in Colombia with everyone having their hand out wanting a bribe to do their job.

If you have spent anytime their you know that it is a way of life for the little people and the "big" people.  This is one of the saddest aspects to this country in my opinion second only to the drug trade. In reality I suppose one is the product of the other.

I came accross this article today on MSNBC and found it interesing reading.  It is titled "Until Death Do Us Part" and is about a female Colombian public official.

Heard this lady on NPR, she's running for President of Colombia in the May election, apparently polling less than 5% now. Certainly sounds more interesting than the hack books our pols put out before elections.

I saw her today on CNN.  She is in Washington D.C., lobbying for foreign aid for Colombia.
