I flew down to Cali in late Sept. The feed us the usual dinner meal. They flight attendant casually mentioned that there was an "ARMED MARSHALL" on board. It was strange, many of the passengers were laughing, trying to figure out, who the marshall was...lol! Before my next trip to Cali, I'm gonna visit my local Italian deli & my Auntie to make sure I have something more to chew on, than some chips & peanuts...lol

Yes,you get these pretzel/chip snacks and soft drinks.I think you can buy beer & wine if you want. Now compared to ACES,where you get free champayne, beer, wine, drinks plus excellent food it doesnīt start to compare.
However, more important is the fare and also the time involved.Coming out of San Jose or San Francisco it is the only flight that will get you there in one day, about 11 hours total with a stop in Miami,if they are on time.Yes the miles awards could be a big factor. If they go back to normal pricing, where AA costs $400 (maybe $1100 more for 2 adults and a child)more or so I will just do the stay over in Miami going down. Also I could then take a later plane out of San Jose(6 miles)vs San Francisco(40 miles). We got up at 3.45AM to catch this plane. That was no fun.Vacations are supposed to be fun.
Unless the flight schedule is very bad I guess the fare is more important. If we can save $1000 for the 3 of us we can spend that money much better when we get there.I waas disapointed with AA air but would use them again if it saves time and money.

Howard,
I have wanted to take the AA flight out of San Francisco because it gets here in one day, less than 12 hours with
connections.I got a great price,$592 RT,so I had to go for it and still would at that price. It saves time.If I had paid the normal price of $1150 or so I would have really thought it was not worth it.Food was very poor SF to Miami. In Miami,30 miniutes before boarding, they annownced there would be no food service to Cali.I quickly grabbed a sandwich and wolfed it down, got in line to board and then we were told the plane was not functional. We waited for another plane out of St.Thomas and were 2 hours late getting to Cali. There were kids ruinning all over the plane. It was a pain in the butt.Normally I can fly Aces for 2/3 what AA costs, and ACES has first class service vs. almost no service. For the price I would do it again. But for the normal price I would definetly take ACES.Many times what you have is an emotional experience of disatisfaction and it sours you on the airline.I presume Texas Rob had one of these also.
Maybe I had an unusual experience.John Bradshaw always takes American out of San Francisco and I havenīt heard him complain. He has so many miles Im think he gets first class upgrades alot.Plus it does save time.
Complain, complain, complain.I have been a little frustrated since I got here and havenīt yet adjusted myself to the
activity level at my mother in laws house.Got to slow down my expectations.
