FYI, for those who have followed Colombia's recent tragic history, this day in 1989 a commercial aircraft was destroyed. 107 people were killed when a bomb destroyed a Colombian jetliner minutes after the plane had taken off from Bogota's international airport. Police blamed the incident on drug traffickers.

Not spreading doom and gloom, we should just keep in mind some of the events that have impacted and shaped the country and people we love.

Take care,

Mark

Regardless of the events that have shaped Colombia. I cannot fathom why you would bring this up on this list at this time. The bomb as I recall was placed by Pablo Escobar to kill one man and show that no one could escape him. As a result George Bush senior ordered legal research that resulted in the "Clear and Present Danger" theory which allowed us to assist in his asassination. (By the way Clinton ordered the asassination of Bin Laudin three years ago.) This event did more to shape our politics than Colombia's. But the sky is not falling and if you are interested read Killing Pablo it might illistrate why there are so many thirty old widows in Cali.  JIM C
