Well it looks like cold weather did me in. I was talking to one woman for about 3 months now and we had spoken before about my Michigan weather and she said she would live wherever I was. Saturday I spoke to her again and she was working in Portugal and said it was cold there for her. I told her it was colder here and before you know it we decided we weren't right for each other because she did not want to live in cold weather and I wasn't about to move to Florida. Maybe looking in South America for a woman might not be such a good idea?

Ladies from Bogota are your best choice. There are at least 3 couples I talk to, that met through us, and have been happily married and living in Minessotta for 2-3 years. I don't think you could get much colder than that.

From feedback I received from them, I know they where not expecting such cold weather, but they got used to it in a relatively short period of time.

Maybe it was a good thing that you and her broke up.  If she really wanted to marry you, she would move to Michigan, cold weather or not.

By the way, my girlfriend lives in Cartagena.  When we met, I was living in Central Texas; the climate there is sub-tropical.  I recently moved to the Midwest.  She hasn't given up on me yet.

Just my two cents worth.

Try a girl from Bogota, they may be more adapable to colder weather. I know a lot of Colombian ladies here in Denver, and the ones from the tropical places complain like hell about our weather which is a lot milder than Michigan.

Michigan isn't that bad it's just you don't know whether it will be 60 degrees or 0 degrees from day to day. Actually she probably would of only been able to live in Hawaii. She was complaining that is was cold in Portugal and I checked online the weather over there. It was 60 degrees so there are not many places in America that remain above 60 year round. I am just wondering if I should try Russian women or a Chinese woman since they know cold weather better. I may think more about this before I try again.

Yes, someone from parts of the Former Soviet Union or China may be more accustomed to a colder climate. However, you might be able to find a Latina who is accustomed to a colder climate.  I'm not a student of Latin American geography, but don't Peru had Chile have moutanous regions?

I'm not saying don't look in other regions, but that you might have to.  However, you don't know what might find if you do.  One member of the planet love community made several trips to latin america without finding anyone and then found someone on his first trip to the Former Soviet Union...

Don't forget the personality and cultural compatibility issues of various kinds of women. Latinas are the best, IMO, even though Asian and Russian women can be quite pretty. It's not just about looks.
You wouldn't consider leaving Michigan? I lived there for a while and it's not bad even though I was raised in southern California. The suburbs of Detroit have their good points, but I also lived in a rural area of the state while going to college and I wouldn't wish that on a foreign woman. The rural Midwest can be so insular and parochial; that's what I couldn't get used to, as opposed to the cold.

Yes I would consider leaving Michigan but I tried to explain to her that she should get adjusted to America first. Maybe I should move first then start searching? I just thought it would be hard to make a relationship work if I was adjusting myself to a new place with a new job. She may feel that I wouldn't be giving her enough attention because I would have to concentrate on work.

I tend to think that the right woman will go wherever you live, so I'm not suggesting you move first. My experience in rural MI, though, tells me a foreign woman would have a harder time dealing with the provincial atmosphere than with the cold. Anyway, good luck to you.

to adjust to.  I spent time in Rural Wisconsin while in college - you either loved the environment or you hated it.

I would give up on Michigan before I would give up on Latinas.Maybe they know something you haven't discovered yet, that you don't have to freeze your butt off 6 months out of the year.I used to live in a similar climate. If you get away from it for a few years you will never want to go back.
But seriously,if you find the right woman she will go for it,Michigan and all,so keep looking.

I've gone from cold (Pensylvania - milder than Michigan) to hot (sub tropical South Florida.)  I would go back.   It took me quite a while to get aclimated down here - I still find it too hot at times.

As Pete said, keep searching and you may (hopefully) find someone who will be willing to move to Michigan.

Hey Fang,

My friend Tim has been married to his Colombian wife for 5 years and they are very happy.  He lives in Rhode Island.

They must be all different, I would think...
