From your experience...

How long did it take from the time you submitted your I-129F application to to the time you got approval from the USA.  Then how long did it take for the Embassy in Bogata to contact you fiancee.  Then how long until their interview?

Any personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!  Waiting is the hardest part, right??

Each service center has a different processing time for the petition.  In my case, since I live in Colorado, the Nebraska service center has jurisdiction.  At the time of my petition, around June, 2001, the normal processing time for Nebraska was running around 90 days.  For some reason, mine was approved in about 35 days.  Why??  I am not sure.  I also used Gary Bala because I got to know him from some TLC tours I went on and we reached an agreement.  My petition was well prepared by a professional so maybe that helped, hard to say.  Gary did not really know why, sometimes, some petitions are approved quicker than the normal processing time.  At that time, Gary was telling me that the Northeast service center approval time was running very quickly, around 2-3 weeks for approvals.  I remember hearing the Texas service center was around 90+ days.

After I received the notice of approval, my fiancée received her package in about 2-3 weeks from the embassy in Bogotá.  She received an open appointment date.  If I remember correctly, the embassy in Bogotá wants you to forward one of the completed documents (I believe the biographical docoment)  to them a week before you show up at the embassy.  This can be faxed to them.  Your lady can then go to the embassy and it takes around 3-4 days for the process (doctor exam, interview, etc.) in Bogotá to receive the visa.  She can save a little time by having the vacinations she needs done in her home city.

So the time line depends greatly on the service center near where you live and how quickly your petition is approved.  After that, they sent the completed package down to the embassy in Bogotá.  You can pay some other kind of fee (I seem to remember around $100+) for an expedited service of the complete package to Bogotá from what I remember.  I did not go this route.  I have never really heard of it taking more than 2-3 weeks for the fiancée to receive her package from the embassy.

Good luck...

did your fiancee fax the completed biographical data form to the embassy and then just go for her appointment, or did she make sure they received it and then go?

why did it take 3-4 days in Bogata...i thought it would just take just 1 day?

are you married now??

DO YOU REMEMBER THE FORM # FOR THE FINANCIAL SUPPORT AFFADAFIT YOU FILLEED OUT?  DID YOU USE THE I-134 OR THE (?) 846?  I'M NOT CLEAR ON WHICH ONE TO USE...

Did you give her the financial affidavit of support to turn in at her interview, or did you send it to the Embassy?

Thanks in advance!!!

Six month is about right.  The most frustrating thing is there are so many forms and there is so much contradictory information.

Your choices are to pay someone $500 or more and the process will take six months.  If you so it yourself it will take 26 weeks.

My fiancee and another man's fiancee got their approval at the same time.  Her appointment was is one week and ours took four.  Don't make travel plans until the appointment is in hand.

Good luck.

Curious,
Guess you didn't go to the link I just posted...It took me 6 mos from filing day til she was here....check under I-'129F Timelines' on the following link, and you will be able to see how long it takes, step by step, by service center...Spend some time on that page and you should get some helpful info....

My wife's K-1 took about 90 days from filing date to tentative approval and appointment scheduling. She is from Peru, not Colombia, might explain the shorter time.
