about a third of those you listed are out of business and several more are considering closing. you better do alot more homework before you get on the plane.

Pack,

These were the agencies listed in the Two Gringos Guide, so I haven't done much else but look at the web sites of a few so far. Your suggestions on the agencies still in business would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Just Curious

wow ...agencies still in business? thats a tough one. the agency industry in cali and colombia has a whole are going through some big changes right now, some are merging, some are closing there doors all together and this happens almost on a weekly basis. i wouldnt be so bold as to recomend A agency to join?visit at this time i think its gonna take awhile longer for this to settle down. there are a few agencies that seem to be a little more solid than the others...but who knows at this point. i suggest anyone going to cali and uncertain about the agency scene just go and visit them all and make your decision. i personaly have my favorites and they are All Colombian Girls, Aspiring Models, Latin Encounters. good luck in your search.

Aren't you the guy who posted that he had a serious gal in Bogota but wasn't sure where it was headed?  I don't understand the desire to venture off to Cali.  Let's say you do go to Cali and find a gal you would like to know more, now you have one gal in Bogota and one gal in Cali.  What's next a trip to Cartagena!!  (-:   You may end up with a serious potential gal in every city and what a logistical mess that would be.  I think it makes a lot more sense to concentrate in one city.  If a person is traveling all over Colombia it doesn't allow sufficient time to do what is most important and that is get to the know a person.

I guess I should have posted that it doesn't look good right now.  She's been difficult to get on the phone and seems like she's avoiding me.  I know she's busy working 10+ hour days and dealing with family problems, but one night I called and the person hung up on me 3 times without saying anything. Although it was late, her father told me to call at that time, so I'm assuming it was her.  I shouldn't have to be hit over the head with a bat to determine what that means.  However, she says to my agency contact that she's still working on the Visa...  I almost run out of hope with this girl, and that only makes sense.

Anyhow, things don't look good so I'm just keeping my eyes open since I've been to Bogota already twice and have seen most of the girls at the one agency.  I'll call this girl in the next couple of weeks one last time to see what happens, but I'm thinking she's just moved on. Once I know for sure, I'll consider going to the Cali branch of the same agency for a different perspective.  I'm definitely not a player trying to get a girl in every city.  I'm serious about this Bogota girl, but not willing to wait around forever if she's had a change of heart.

Some advice would be helpful since there seems to be several options as listed in the Two Gringos Guide.  Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Just Curious

The Bogota situation sounds bad, you're right.  If you're planning a Visa with her and she's not very attentive to you this is a major bad sign.  A gal who's planning a VISA visit should be crazy about you not indifferent.  We all work long hours and yet most of us find ways to show that we care about someone, telephone calls, email, cards etc..   I'd suggest moving on and finding someone who will be attentive not indifferent.

Pete,

Business is bad right now. Which is great thing, if guys would get of their duffs and go. There are still many nice women at the agencies, that are still many nice women you can write to first & then visit. There are still many nice ladies who haven't signed up with  agenices, that a guy can meet via club, mall, etc etc. Pete, that poster from LWL was trying to imply that the remaining agencies were turning into some sort of whore palaces & that the women who are currently joining have less than stellar reputations. That's a bunch of B.S. Fellas whether you do the agency thing, or write first or freelance...NOW IS THE TIME TO GO! Whether it's Cali, Bogota, Cartegena, wherever....GO!!!!!

Pete,

I've been in Cali for a couple weeks and I'm running into gringos at all the regular hangouts.  I don't pay much attention to the agency scene anymore but I doubt people's perceptions in Cali have changed that much.  To be truthful, I'm not sure if the perception was very good to begin with.  What drives the industry in my opinion, is gringos willing to travel.  The continuing problems in Colombia and the events of September in the U.S. are probably more responsible than anything.

Fellas,

I bumped into a few ladies who used to work at "The Palace" & "Latin Internet". Business was a little slow before the attack. Now the flying fears, have cut down travel even more. I didn't spend any time at the local gringo spots. I can get that flavor here. The ladies mentioned that, some of the gringos who frequent Cali are veterans who by-pass the agencies all together. Keep in mind that, these men know more about the in's & out's of Cali, than those men using agencies. Some are serious about finding love, some are strollers. I ain't judging, that's there business. Because of certain cultural norms that I have witnessed in my trips to Cali. It is not difficult at all meeting "FINE" women. And of course with certain...(BIG) ahem....norms. Being a "Married" man in Cali can be adventurous & dangerous!

Didn't quite follow the middle sentence here, Hoda. By 'norms', do you mean standards?:

Bueller,

By "norms", I mean certain socially accepted practices and/or standards that are accepted by some men and women in Cali. There are men in Cali who have relationships outside of their marriage. Because of the beauty, the number & the approachability (?) of some women. It is quite easy, no check that, it is too easy/tempting for a married guy to have an affair on the side. Bueller, I understand the "how" of why some men in Cali have affairs, I don't accept the "why" they have affairs. If a guy is still going to be a player after getting married. Why get married in the first place?`

Hope this helps....Peace
