Mandatory ID for foreigners!?!?

dear ladies and gentlemen:

  my wife was watching Telemundo and she said something about it would be mandatory for all aliens(legal) to carry their identification.  My spanish is still very poor so I am asking anyone out there did they hear of any statement that the aliens here must carry all documents and passports with them because of the heinous murders in new york and washington, D.C. and Pennslyvania?

larry in dallas, i heard something similar. i also heard one of the t v commentators say that the INS has begun a crackdown on aliens. i would say all foreigners should have plenty of ID with them at all times.

I heard that immigrants would need green cards to travel by air. My wife does not have one yet, but has her passport, marriage certificate and notice of receipt from INS. I hope that is enough. She was worried that I might have to head to NY for the holidays solo. Of course I would then just remain here with her, but it would certainly dampen the holidays spirit for us.
