I found a Colombia news source that seems to be more inclusve than the newspapers El Tiempo and El Pais. It is the radio company Caracol and has printed articals on the web. There is even a translation feature though I didn't try it. Any how it is there that I finally found the answer to my question: from what part of Choco department the Swedish engineer working for an American computer company was kidnapped last weekend. Why the curiosity? Because I'm going to a resort on the Choco coast in a week and a half. The site is: www.caracol.com.co
(He was taken along the northern border, not on the coast.)

I've seen several of their interviews/reports (or at least excerpts of them) translated into English by BBC, on this site:
ft.com   (WITHOUT the usual www). Give it a try for news.
