I just posted this as a response to a message that was 8 days old and therefore way down the list. I'll post it again so it will be near the top so everybody will see it. Give credit to Bear on the Asian board for actually ferreting it out for us.

K-3 visa went into effect August 14. See Bear's post on the Asian board for a link to where you can get the actual forms and read the regulations. I printed it off last night (all 19 pages, and that's does NOT include the forms). Haven't had time to study it yet, but hopefuly it will enable couples to marry abroad and gain entry for the alien spouse much faster (maybe even faster than the K-1, who knows)

Michael,
As I read it (briefly) this K3 Visa is for those who MARRY in a foreign country.

I don't think it will have much impact on guys who marry in Colombia, because they already have the DCF(Direct Consular Filing) and it is only taking a few weeks according to recent reports.

On the other hand for those who marry in other countries without DCF, the K-3 should in theory speed up the process of getting your esposa to the U.S.

Mike, keep us posted on the details.

Can you tell me more about the DCF?  My novia is in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, but I still like to keep up on how things are handled in other countries.  Never know might find something that is available but not utilized where I am.

Thanks
Jerry

Jerry,

Follow the link below. This is from Alvena Hydes's site which she transferred to Doc Steen so the lawyers would quit hassling her.

Yes, go over to the Asian board, find Bear's post with a similar title and he has the link.
