I see no need to needle someone who is no longer here to defend himself.

I agree it's bad sport to bust on a guy who isn't here to defend himself.
On the other hand you've gotta consider the reasons ~why~ he's not here.  This guy bred contempt with a lot of people over a long period of time, and from some of the smart aleck posts I've seen lately it's obvious some of them are still smarting with resentment from it.
I understand this, too. Being a fairly infrequent poster here myself I never had much occasion (or reason for that matter) to go toe to toe with Houndog, but I can't tell you the number of times I've logged on here and just rolled my eyes after seeing another 8 mile long thread with every other name being "Houndog".
Granted, some of the guys he argued with were provacative, too, but hey, it takes two to rumba and it got to be incredibly disruptive after a while -not to mention immature to the point of being embarassing to even be on the same board.
("know what I mean jellybean?" ;-)
I was genuinely surprised at the frequency of it - and even more surprised of how long it was allowed to go on.  Maybe putting Houndog on ice is a good thing.  If he is allowed to return I hope he will have done a little introspection- for his sake as well as ours.

Actually it's humor Patrick.  I think this board needs more humor.  I got along with Houndog as best as anyone.  His personality was unique and I saw a place for him here as well as anyone else.  But hey what I see as humorous and in good fun can be misinterpreted.  My sincere apologies to Houndog and my esteemed colleagues..
