i am planning a trip to S.A. later this year and at this point I am planning to go to Cali.

I am looking for advice on just about any/everything, especially agencies. I do not want to get into a bad situation if I can help it.

Please someone give some information, this is my second posting. On the first one I didn't receive any responses.

I am Colombian Women married with American Man. I used to be in several agencies in Bogota although you may not believe it. It's very important to us how you are dressed the first time.
I agree with most of the list posted by Cdrab for example when i met my husband. I did not like the way he was dressed and many othr gringos that I meet also and many other women in the agencies told me the same thing although the way a men dressed in not the most important thing about him but it is the first impresion.
My husband has changed how he dressed with my help and now I am more attracted to him. many of you are looking for a woman much yonger and so you need to look yonger and very masculine. when you goto Colombia you will see Colombian men dressed very nicely just like the woman impressed you.  Don't you men like to see your wife or girlfriend dressed very nice for you?

Very good advice, truthful and factual! A little advice to the men, when you look at the ladies photos and see them in person, it is usually the better dressed lady that catches your eye first. It works the same way when they see you.

Thank you, Colombian Wife, for reminding the gringos around here that they need to look nice when they come to meet the sweet ladies of Colombia and other destinations in Central and South America.

Our society has just been getting more and more casual.  I am not complaining about that.  But down there, people dress up more and it is a more formal society.  When I come back from SA and I am in an American airport, I notice right away how slovenly many people look.

Thank you for your good advice Colombian Wife.

These are only the tip of the iceburg as far as advice on finding latinas

1.Learn as much spanish as possible.
2. The pictures of the women are not always accurate and the weight and height rarely is.
3.Don't always pick the prettiest girls.
4. If the agency lists the addition dates of the girls try and see the newest girls first.
5.Form a good relationship with your translator(This is very important)
6.If you notice the girl you are seeing holds you tighter  every time you buy her something dump her.
7.Watch her body language, if you find the right girl they are usually very passionate if they are interested in you.
8.Be reasonable about the age difference.
9.when you meet the right one see if she will invite you over to meet the family.
10. Pepto Bismo is Bis Bacter in colombia(you might need that)even if your spanish is bad the pharmacist will know what you want.
11.Relax, don't go down there with unrealistic expectations and have fun.
12.I would be a little cautious of eating food from the many stands along the roads.
13. If in colombia stay in the city, and only go to discos inside the city.
14. Don't wear expensive jewelery in public
15. This should go without saying but I have seen otherwise always look clean, smell good and dress neat for the girls.
16. If you like hunting you might be better to keep that to yourself, the girls aren't at all impressed with that.

I hope this helps.

As far as I'm aware there are three Internet lists/boards dedicated to discussions of searches for a Latin American Bride by North American Men. Obviously this is one; the other two are the Latin Women-List (see http://www.geocities.com/Paris/Metro/7640/index.html), and the 2 Gringos Guide (a web site and book; see http://www.gringos.com).  Patrick has a point about his archives, but, in fairness, his archives are the most difficult of these three sites to search.  Also, in fairness, Patrick has said he is doing something about this.

The 2 Gringos book and web site are particularly useful guides to the logistics and issues of matrimonial agencies in Cali and other Colombian Cities.  If you start down this road you are inevitably going to invest much and risk a certain amount.  Given the tone and content of this question, I would suggest that you buy the 2 Gringos book and monitor all three sites for a couple of months before setting a date on a trip to Cali.  That's just my 50 Colombian pesos worth.
