Hi,

I'm looking for creative ways to propose to a special lady? In particular, I'd be interested to know what expressions, in Spanish, I might use. Although my Spanish
is pretty fluent there are some gaps in my use of the language, in particular I've never
proposed to anyone before nor seen it on tv Smiley

I'd also be interested in creative scenarios for proposing. I'm quite willing to embarass myself!!!

Thanks,
Sol

Well, I am still happily Married to my new Colombiana and I can't beleive how quick it all came together!!!!

On December 23rd, 2000, I got us a luxury suite at the "Torre de Cali",(which is the tallest building in all of Cali, Colombia). Quick tip....although they did not appear to be heavily booked...they make a minor fuss if you don't make a reservation.

We obtained a room on the 18th floor which had an impressive view of the city by both Day & Night...but the best thing was the Jacuzzi/HUGE Bath TUb. TIP #2..YES they have HOT WATER....however not enough for the entire Jacuzzi...only 1/2 hot= luke warm bathing (STILL Better than a COLD SHOWER)?!...oh did I mention that Tub also has a panoramic view(Window size 12'x 4' of the city?!

Well, we had fun playing with/in ;-) all the  bubbles in the Bath tub and finally she relaxed and closed her eyes...that's when I reached over for the ring which was hidden in a Kodak Film canister on the side of the tub (I faked that I had a leg cramp so she'd let go of me , so I could make my move)!

There she was, here eyes closed with a BEAUTIFUL and Tranquil smile with her hands crossed over her belly and then with great sensitivity I slipped on the ring on her finger. About 3 seconds must have passed then she opened her eyes tothe BIGGEST surprise of her life!

Her first question was "What is this?" I basically told her that i am in soooo love with her and that I want her and I to be together until eternity and for her to be the mother of my children and I made five promises (goes back to the start of the relationship) plus one that everyday I will LOVE her even more. She was overwhelmed when I proposed to her...her eyes full of tears of joy and yet shaking from the shock!

Needless to say she said YES!!! It's a day I'll never forget...those expressions she made was sureal and it all turned out to be soooo Romantic without overtrying and minimal stress!

Goodluck to all!,

My roommate in college and best friend of mine propose to his wife at a movie theather. You know when you sit down waiting for the movie to come on they put up advertisments, he talked the theather into putting slides up with a poem he wrote for her for that moment, and then last one asked her to marry him.... when first came on, she was talking to him about something, and he said "heyyyy honey look", she was little irritated with him at first because he interupted her so abruptly...was funny..then she started reading what was said on screen then at end saw the message...she tripped out.she was crying..was great...people all in theater were like wow ..never seen this before..he had couple ushers shine flash lights on them when the last slide came up that asked her to marry him...and then he said it in person......it was different.........................................................mine was more low key and romantic...i asked my wife to marry me the night she graduated college...we went out to eat at a resturant beside the ocean in Peru and toward the end of dinner i brough out the ring and asked her to marry me....was big day for her..graduated college and got proposed to all in the same day Smiley

I proposed in kind of a whacky way. First of all I had decided to give my 82 year old Mom a trip to the DR for her Birthday. After booking and planning her trip, I decided to get engaged.

So, my fiancee meets us at the Airport and kisses a bit of butt by bringing flowers for Mom. Iris was VERY nervous about meeting her "suegra". She was already calling her her suegra even though we were not engaged etc. Of course she wouldn't call her that in person, just to me;-)

Any way, first stop was my apt, which used to be my buddy's. He introduced us and we first met on the balcony. My friend and his wife were trying to set me up with her for a while and had "hyped" her so much. My initial reaction? Not my type, or "no mi typo".

Any who. We all go sit on the patio and I break out the video camera. I told Iris I had to tell her something serious. I asked her if she remembered where we first met. She said of course, "aqui". I asked her if she remembered what I thought of her? She said "no mi typo" and laughed. I admitted that she was a little bit "mi typo" now;-)

I then told her I decided, I no longer wanted her to be my girlfriend or "novia". She looked very confused, and a bit worried. She asked "porque"? I just said "yo quiero otro" or I want something else, and brought the ring out from my pocket. She freaked out, started crying, my Mom started crying etc etc etc. With the camera still rolling, I said I don't remember hearing her say yes! She quickly responded in  the affirmative and the rest is history;-)
