I read that, too. It was second-hand evidence, not from Larry himself. I'd like to know if it's true. If so, it borders on romantic malpractice. And here comes "Do as I say, not as I do", because I also proposed after about 3 days.
I got lucky. My first fiancee (another Luz) disappeared from radar before I even got the K-1 filed. Then yet another Luz that I had lunch with on my first Bogota trip called me back out of the blue. And with her I also proposed right away because I was in love with her from the moment I first saw her (she just wasn't ready to make a commitment on my first trip and the other Luz was). She is now Mrs. DallasSteve and it's been the best 17 months of my life. I've said it before, "I'd rather be lucky than smart (or prudent)".
So what's the point. I think the point is "You pays your money and you takes your chances". If we chose to jump in recklessly, we should recognize the risk. And still, we could chose a bride carefully and take our time and follow the rules (whoever's rules they may be) and think with our "Northern head", and still crash and burn. Yes, I agree, being more careful improves your odds. But these women, like us men, all have free will and anything can, and often does, happen.
