Yep heading South to Colombia. ESO! I have been to Venezuela but
this (Cali) makes me nervous so any and all advice how to hide money,
avoiding police in the airport (I'm reminded of Hoda's plight)
Is there any recourse we have when dealing with the real police or fake police?  How to tell the difference should I say "no entiendo"
or better yet use the wrong form like "no comprende" even when I do? Which taxis do you trust, change money, where to go, when to go, where not to go. What not to do. Is it safe to take the women out at night? All comments opinions and advice are welcome I'm off to Belliza city! In the land of the Guapas!
And if you missed it I'M SEEKING YOUR STORIES OF LATINA ADVENTURES
FOR A BOOK to put together with my own write me at kingjamesmara@hotmail.com We've got to educate all those guys still
seeking american women.  (after we secure our own latina ofcourse)

Sounds like you're gearing up for a good trip. It's always helpful if you can have someone meet you at the airport, especially a first trip to a new country. If that's not possible find a friendly local and have them give you a little help. I've found on all my trips with a few please's and thank you's a helping hand was not that hard to find.

Personally I try not to carry much cash. Enough for tasks at hand, taxi's, food, tips, etc. and CC's and/or ATM cards and/or travellers checks. I would exchange 100 bucks or so in Houston or Miami. When going out, place your money in two different spots, a small amount in a pocket and the larger amount somewhere else of choice. Just in case. But keeping BOTH EYES open at all times and maintaining cautious diligence is the safest strategy IMO ie: remove yourself from uncomfortable situations as quickly as possible, avoid dark alleys, etc. On a first trip it's a good idea to rely on friendly local advice for sightseeing tips and do's and don'ts. I'm not sure what you mean by fake police? As far as being rousted by the DAS at the Airport...they're gonna do what they're gonna do...WE are in 'their country' and it's their rules. We have no rights there basically...so my advice...Go Along to Get Along.

Regards and Have a Great Trip,
