Has anyone here actually had their application delayed by not providing sufficient proof of having met in the past two years? Second, has anybody terminated their application after it was in process and if so, does this prejudice you for a future K-1? I am hearing that it can take up to 4 months from Application to final approval for a Russian fiance, so I am trying to decide quickly whether to file before I go back to see her again on July 12 (which will mean that the initial approval could be finished close to the time I return). If not, add another month from the time I return. I am not desparate...but if all goes as expected on this next trip, I woul rather have her get here sooner rather than later. Thanks.

I received the notice of  approval for my K1 visa petition last week through the Nebraska center, which was supposed to be the slowest and running around 90 days.  They received my petition on May 3rd but did not officially receive it until May 17th. They approved the petition on June 22nd which was quicker than I expected.

I do not have any answers for you on delays due to insufficient documentation or terminating a petition after it was in process.  I remember hearing one guy say that they asked him for more information and his petition was taking forever.  You mention that you are trying to quickly decide whether to file now before July 12th.  Do you have sufficient time to get all of your documentation together as well as her documentation by then?  You mention that you are not desperate for time so you may want to make sure it (your petition) is not rushed and complete and use the next trip to visit her to get her signatures and documents and pictures together as well as make sure that all is well with your relationship before taking the next step.

I used a lawyer, Gary Bala, who I like alot and recommend if someone wants to use a lawyer.  I was in somewhat of a rush and we got it all put together and filed pretty quickly, but it was thorough and complete.  The approval came quicker than I expected possibly because the petition was done by a professional.

Good luck and I hope it all works out for you.
