I just came back from visiting a woman in Buenos Aires that I've been corresponding with for some time.  As far as I'm concerned, Argentinians are some of the friendliest people I've met anywhere.  And my friend was perhaps the most unpretentious "beautiful woman" I've ever met.  Nothing like the stereotype mentioned here. Actually, at present, Argentina is a viable place to look for a wife.  People there don't want to leave as badly as Colombia.  But they want to leave.  The economy is in sad shape.  Yes, salaries are much higher than other countries in Latin America.  But so is the cost of living.  And the unemployment rate is off the scale. I don't think the actual standard of living in Argentina is much better than many other countries in L.A. Anyway, whoever was slamming Argentinians was WRONG, WRONG, WRONG.

interesting,  did you know that Argentines can get a tourist visa to the states quite easily.  this may be of interest to guys out there seeking a foreign bride.

never thought to much about Argentina before but I met a friend here in Florida and recent posts seem encouraging.  kind of refreshing to hear some new info.

right on brother! there is a small but growing group of argentina aficionados here.

if you have some time, why don't you post a little more information about how you met a lady in argentina, and did you met others while you were there, while walking around , or in cafes, etc.

buenos aires is great! but yes, it is an expensive country to visit... the south is great, and the wine country is extra nice.

the ladies are the cream of the crop. very sexy latina. and approachable.

i lived in mendoza for 5 months ( good time in b.a. also), and during that time i had a pretty wild and really sexy girl, AND a beautiful 24 yr. old. she was just graduating from college and she  wanted in bad....... but i couldn't commit for the lifetime thing, and her living here where i can work, learning english, two years of adjustment, homesickness, struggle with the language, new friends, visits from the family (the family thing is as close-knit in argentina as any other latin countries), etc., etc., etc...i just could not commit. oh well. i know i missed out on the most beautiful and nice girl that i'm gonna to meet, but i just couldn't commit.

well, enough about mistake..... the place is great!

there are no latinos anywhere, in any country, that say that they like argentines. but who cares? they can leave them for us!!!!

a few footnotes, though...it ain't cheap!  and argentinas are NOT cheap!!!! (like all women spend your money. know what i mean?)...the economy is in ruins.... the national airline is about to fold..... you must speak spanish to catch a  classy argentina.......and a little bit of a sense for style and dress doesn't hurt either.they always look sharp, and so should you...

fat guys? start jogging!

so, if you have time, let us know how you met this lady?

cool?

She responded to a profile I had on www.cybercupido.com.  This is not however a good place to be looking for Argentinian girlfriends -- there aren't that many female Argentinians registered on the web site, compared to say Peruvians or Colombians.  She just happened to see my profile and liked what she saw.  It was a little ironic because she said in her profile that she wasn't interested in meeting extranjeros.  I hate to say this, because unfortunately it provides ammunition to some of the people on this board who promote a very negative, unjustified stereotype of Argentinians, but the reason she said what she said was because she wasn't interested in meeting, say, orientals or Brazilians.  But Europeans or North Americans were O.K.  There wasn't a love connection for me, although there was for her.  Part of the problem was that she was too affectionate for my tastes. It was nonstop kissing and loving from the moment I touched down in Buenos Aires.  She says all her girlfriends are that way too.  Don't know if this is true, but if it is (and you should be in a position to know better than me having lived in Argentina), it certainly doesn't fit with the image of the "cold" Argentinian.  I've never dated a more passionate woman.

I think the only negative stereotypes presented here were simply sentiments of a few Latin people passed on by posters.  I haven't heard anyone say they had personal experience with Argentinians and disliked them.  I also remember hearing from some Colombians that they thought Argentinians were arrogant, but I've heard many negative opinions of various Latin countries from other Latinos from a different country.  As someone pointed out, it's just nationalism at work.  Kind of like some Americans who think all Latin immigrants should go back to their country.

i agree with you patrick it is nationalism at work. i had an interesting experience on an AA headed to cali. sitting next to me was a man from argentina ( traveling salesman) we began a conversation ( i thought he was a colombian ) he didnt seem to have a lot of knowledge about colombia i found out then that he was a argentine i asked why he was going to cali he said the women. i said surely you have many beautiful women in argentina , he replied yes but they have an attitude problem he went on to say he preferred the cali woman over his own argentine ladies. just thought i'd share that with you i found it interesting.

If you don't like affectionate women, you are looking in the wrong place! I was fortunate enough to witness Sylvia from LWL with her husband Richard after a few days of Marriage.

She was "glowing". She is a very special lady. Cold, is the last word one would pick to describe her.

Planet Houndog rule 527e clearly states that generalizing is wrong. Unless:

1-your girlfriend is the one generalizing

2-Furor Houn Dog is the one doing it

people from other latin countries say that Argentines are arrogant.  in other words they think they are better.  I've discussed this with my friend and she says its because they are envious.  well, that may be a little arrogant in itself but then again Argentines are not different in this respect from another nationality I know... Americans.

see, you posted that Argentines were the worst, but you couldn't even tell us what they were the "worst" at.
