My lady tells me, it's common knowledge of the tactics the police use.
She recommends that visiting gringo's resist the urge to rent cars. Why you ask? Could you imagine being pulled over for a traffic violation in Cali. As funny as it may seem to those who have been to Cali. I would imagine that rented cars scream...GRINGO/MONEY INSIDE OF THIS CAR!!! Stivalis also said that the average salary for airport police is about 500,000 pesos......$250 a month US.

Still no excuse to rob us.......Hoda!

Anyway, somebody should drop a dime to the authorities about the scam with the airport police.

Most likely wouldn't do much. The Police are probably paid so poorly that it is sort of "accepted" or at least "overlooked".

Scams by Police in third world countries is unfortunately fairly common. Since many times us Gringos are thought of as having money, we make good targets.
