This board has given me information, experience, and inspiration over the past (almost 2 years).  All the guys with the insatiable curiosity, adventurous spirit, and a dream of lifelong love have been like brothers to me.  Every new 1st trip report still has the magic.  That real possibility that the woman of our dreams exists.

I found the woman of my dreams last August, and we will be married this May.  N is the type of woman that can succeed in any environment, and she is excited about us starting our life together  She is already amigas with some of your fiancees and wives and will be with others in the future.  How great is it to use this forum not only to meet N (indirectly) but to meet friends and other couples that I've already got plans to spend time with in the future.

As I approach my final days of bachelorhood I realize that I'm about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime.  Avant-garde bachelor cuisine, home decor, and lifestyle is about to be replaced with a loving compromising partnership.  I think this means that I can't repair surfoboards and mountain bikes in the living room any longer.  Jolt Cola ice cream floats and jalapeno cheesesteak sandwiches at
3 am may also be less frequent.  Sounds like my antique Hawaiian Hula dancer doll and tiki god collection may not be holding their present positions of status much longer either.  Don't know if nunchuks, shurikens, and katanas could be considered as home decor either?  Don't forget to remove all evidence of the exes!!  God help me if I miss something!!

It's scary and exciting to be finishing one process and starting another.  As N and I speak on the phone each night we both realize how much our lives are about to change and can hardly wait to be together.  As I cross t's and dot i's on our Visa application documents, it becomes even more profound how important and life-changing this process is.

We've already got Dad, brother, and sister a reservation in Cali, and are lobbying hard for Moms and four-year old niece.  Might have to get her on the phone with Pete E., H2-OH, El Diablo or other Cali vets to talk her onto the plane.  Everything else is in place and ready to go.  The camaraderie I've found here on this board have been pivotal in making a difficult, risky, tedious process exciting, fun and rewarding.

Thanks and good luck to all,

Doug Y.

But you didn't raise your hand & asked to be excused from this board!!!! It's ROAST TIME Y'ALL!!!!!!

Doug!!! You can still fix things in the living room, if you dress them up a bit. Throw some fabric over them & tell her it's art deco furniture. Jolt Cola soda floats & jalapeno cheesesteaks? Geeeeezusss Doug! You must have been BUSTING them off like MAD, living alone! ROTFLMAO!!!
You d*mn right you're going to have to give them joints up. Love is strong, BUT IT AIN'T THAT STRONG!!!

About you nunchuks & katanas, put them in a frame & tell her it's a "Martial Art"-work...heh heh! On the real Doug, you better bring in your sister or other female relations to "DE-EX" your crib. Women know, what women do, when it comes to marking their territory. If you don't & Lady N, finds evidence. God ain't gonna be able to help you. He's gonna tell you, "my name is Wes, & I ain't in this mess".

Doug, my man! You know, I ain't got nothing but love for you & Lady N. Your adventure of Love has just begun. With a number of gents here entering a new stage. One that you newbies hope to reach one day...Sharpen your pencils & take good notes...Class is in session!

Cheers to Doug & Lady N

Hoda,

Having a female friend, sister, or cousin "De-EX" the joint is a definite MUST!  A.k.a. doing an "exorcism". Wink

Purge the demons, or have your lady's head spinning around like Linda Blair when she happens upon something....."No, baby really, that was from a long time ago...mi amor...mi vida...Que haces? Que tienes?...whoah, put that down!....HELP!"

Hey Doug,
I'm glad to hear everything is coming together for you now that your nearing D-Day.  I will be about 2 mos. behind you timing wise.  I too, have had to do alot of thinking about how my life will be changing and what I need to do in order to mentally prepare for the change.  One thing is for sure, things will be different...

Often times I think of these things when doing yardwork...then I vision her picking up a rake and helping me with all those leaves... :-0.

Good Luck,
Mike

Congrats Doug, sounds like a good start. My new esposa actually likes most of my bachelor "decor", of course she is adding a few touches of her own. Maybe you will get lucky and most of it can stay:)

I still do an occasional midnight snack, too!

   Good luck!
