I have only been to BQ once and that was just a day trip to eat with the immediate family and also meet alot of the relatives.  I am going back down there for an engagement reception type deal with 2 friends of mine...

Are there any major attractions in the city that is worth seeing?  I understand the best beaches are just outside of town on that same road to Cartagena.  If not, I'm sure we can just chill by the pool and have all the babes come over to the hotel...Actually, it will be for them...I will almost certainly be within ear pulling range of my fiancee 24/7....

not to self:  buy some relflective shades...I have learned that is the only way to safely observe thongs (that yours isn't wearing).  Hint, remember not to move the head as the thong bearers walk past.  That is a guaranteed ear pull....lol.

Later,
Mike

JunFan,

As much as I like Barranquilla, I must say that there are not many daytime attractions there. I willl agree that there are some nice disco's; BAQ Plaza...Yes, Mr. Babilla...Yes(sat), Frogglegs...Yes(fri/sat), La Estacion...more mellow, located about 50 yards to the left of Mr. Babilla, Henry's Cafe(more of a "chill" spot for mingling).

Villa country is a nice place to shop, hang out and eat(fast food), or see a movie. If you were single I would also recommend it as a great place for meeting ladies. There is a large wal-martesque store located there called Super Ley(pronounced lay...get it super lay?), anyway it is always filled with gorgeous ladies. The first time I met a lady and she said she worked for super ley...."I'm sorry, you work where?"

However I have to disagree about the zoo in Barranquilla? It is more like an ooo, as in "ooo, what is that supposed to be?" I did have an "interesting" time at the BAQ ooo though, seeing the...uh...animals? -I have never seen such a skinny elephant in my life...that was still alive, and the lion looked so malnourished that I doubt it could've roared to save his life.

It was overpriced even considering a price for Colombia, given the condition of the..ahem..zoo, and if iguanas freak your lady out, beware, because they are crawling freely throughout the place in ALL sizes.

I do agree again with Keith, that Santa Marta is a place definitely nice and worth seeing if you have the time.

Hi, Mike. Barranquilla has a very nice zoo where you and your lady can visit. There is also the Villa Country Shopping Mall. As for dancing, there is Barranquilla Plaza (OFF THE HOOK!!!) and Mr. Barbarilla (I don't think that this is the correct spelling). Personally, I like the beach in Santa Marta. It's clean and the people in that area are very friendly. I hope this helps. Take care. PEACE.
