Thanks to everybody who's helped me in this process on this list. I struck out with the first lady I met - she's a wonderful person in many ways but has some aspects to her personality I'd rather do without. Please I felt her to be physically distant in person vs. very close in phone and email conversations. So, I'm still looking.
In my first attempt at this process I wrote to a bunch of women basically all over Latin America. I became enchanted with one girl in Medellin and spent 10 days with her. I'm not complaining about this false start. It got me into the game, into Colombia, and I made a number of good friends.
My new strategy will be to pick one city, Barranquilla, write to a bunch of women before I go, have phone dialogs with the better matches, enlist the support of an agency there (Classy Colombian Ladies), visit for a week and meet a number of the women during that week. I also plan to screen much more carefully for I what I want which is someone who is happy, humble, good natured, affectionate, romantic, sensual, and independent but not to an extreme.
For those who are wondering, I picked Barranquilla because I found, as a generalization, many women in Medellin to be intelligent, sophisticated, well educated to an extreme vs. what I want which is a "simpler" lady. Ray Reitzle of International Lady (intlady.com) has been a support person to me throughout this process (I purchased a subscription to his address database in January) and he and his Colombian wife recommended Barranquilla as a city where the women are happier, extroverted, and friendlier. Plus, I get the impression that Barranquilla is a safer town than Medellin, it's on the coast, which I like and Ray higly recommended the "Classy Colombian Ladies" agency as one that operates with very high integrity. Plus, Barranquilla is not far from Cartagena from what I hear.
So, sometime around Labor Day I plan to make my second trip to Colombia.
If any of you know of any sweet, friendly, romantic, loving women, 25-37 years old in Barranquilla, who have access to email for an initial getting-to-know-one-another period I'd appreciate the referral.
Also, I'd appreciate comments or suggestions for my next trip.
