First, you MUST go to the Philippines and not just once! Second, while chat-room romances MAY work, they are not the best way to find a partner. I am at the point where I'll add to my list of "requirements": no e-mail, no cell-phone!!! (OK, I am exaggerating a bit, but not much ;-)

Hi Dave, I am a bit "slow" this morning - are you saying that you are corresponding with one of "my" penpals? Each of the girls I visited last month has 20+ penpals, so I wouldn't be surprised if eventually we find guys on this board writing to the same "honey"....

Or are maybe you are simply saying that you found someone who hasn't e-mail nor cell phone???

Hi cc,

My fiancee is very low tech. She doesn't own a cellphone or know how to send text messages. Her sister has helped her email me twice from an Internet cafe, when she was home from college. My fiancee is waiting for her sister to return, to teach her how to email me again. ;o)

If one golddigger internet user can tell the same sob story (a gross exaggeration from the truth) and entices each of the 20 to feel sorry for her (each guy not knowing that she has multiple pen-pals, but thinking she's serious with one man), and each sends an average of $15 at about the same time, she receives $300.  Now, exchanging that for pesos will yield roughly P14,000.  Perhaps roughly 3 months of wages.

Quite a way to make a living, huh!  What a lucrative business!  Well, I think the means to accomplish that abundance is downright disgusting.

You never can tell if that person on the net is someone who is shy and uncomfortable with the opposite sex...the type that could be bubbly and smart with family and friends but would totally clam up when in front of men....

Maybe,  that's her way of getting over that shyness.....and just speaking freely and intelligently....

But, of course, there are also those that you gentlemen, have written so much about....the vultures, the golddiggers, and the like....

Outwest,  you are mature and intelligent enough to know when the right one comes along.  So, give it a chance, you never know when you'll finally meet that ONE SPECIAL PERSON...*s*
