I plan on going to the INS office in Harlingen after she arrives but, I do have a couple of questions; How does Era get a SS card, Texas I.D. and when can she go to work? I also live across the river from Mexico and we would like to go there to eat, but know that this can be a problem. I don't plan for her to work anytime soon, but it would be nice if any thing came up. She needs a SS# to go to GED classes, but because it's with BISD, and I know the people there, that won't be a problem for a while. If there is anything else that you think that I should know please let me know. Thanks in advance, capt david

Capt,

If she leaves the country on a K-1 visa, she won’t get back in! Take her to Taco Bell if you want Mexican food (LOL). I recommend that you feed her plenty of fish, vegetables, and rice when she arrives. Don’t try to change her diet overnight!

There is absolutely no reason to go to the INS (BCIS) office at this stage. After you are married, then you can file the AOS stuff.

For the SSN, take her to the Social Security office. Bring her passport, I-94, and a picture ID if she has one.

I have no idea about the Texas ID. Bear?

I suggest you get hr SSN after you get married so you don't have to file again for a change of name.
