Been asked of you before and i am sure i could search it in the archives,

Is diving etc in the summer months, not good? i went to Puerto Galera last year in april and i dont know how to dive but want to learn,
So me and my gf just snorkled, it was fabulous.

Have you ever been to Moalboal i know Jimbo said he has, how would you guys compare it to Puerto Galera . pricewise, etc, I stayed in Sabang and was not impressed with the small town, but the corals were great.

Would like to find a more relaxed atmosphere , even a resort type place to stay, with nice snorkling diving, etc,
Thanks in advance

Hey OW,

I've always been diving in May or December so I don't know about summer.  The best snorkling, in my experience, is on the smaller islands - Panglao, Camiguin, Siguijor.  The very best snorkling is on the tiny islands - Sibulan, Apo, Balicasag, Pamilacan - but you need a boat to get to them.

If you want relaxed, then maybe Alona Beach (Bohol) might be good for you.  There are lots of resorts but they're spread out and the beach is beautiful.  You could snorkle the house reef or pay a small fee to a dive shop to take you by banca to the great spots like Balicasag.

On some small Islands like Siquijor or Bohol the wind comes in from different directions making one side of the island windy at different times of the year.

If you want to learn to dive go to Moal Boal it's cheeper there and there's good diving. The snorkeling isn't that good at Moal Boal because of a typhoon about 10 years ago. M/B is a lot like P/G. lots of divers who like to party at night. Lots of loud mouthed Germ's there when I got certified there in 95! You should be able to find a simple nipa hut for p500 to p8oo maybe less.
If you want a nice quite place with good snorkeling go to Davao Samal Island at Paradise Beach resort huts are p800.
