Tom,

Which P.I. consulate are you trying to call?

I don't know if you can find a similar service where you live, but here in San Diego, there are a bunch of Filipino-owned travel agencies that will handle all the consulate stuff for you for a reasonable fee. I think they charge about $25 service charge to hand-carry your passport and renewal application to the appropriate Philippine consular office and get your new passport for you. They have all the forms and I can save more than $25 in gas alone by not having to drive up to Los Angeles. You might want to ask around in your area if there is anything like that available.

Is Jessica going to apply for citizenship?

I have been meaning to call you on the phone again, but I've lost your phone number.

(You were gone from here for quite a while, and I was worried about you folks.)

Hey Jeff,

I was looking at your fishing page the other day and noticed that it hasn't been updated for a while. Have you had a chance to get out on the water lately?

I see that old photo of Hairy Humabdos and his Rock Cod is still up there. Nice fish, but MY GOD! He looks like some creature from the deep! I hope Sally hasn't seen that! TNTPINGDP!

I'm planning a major update of the page shortly. I just couldn't invest the time to keep it updated twice a week - even then I got a lot of complaints that it wasn't updated daily. There's some really good reports pages like this one: http://www.sportfishingreport.com - so I'm converting mine to a "where and how" page with gps coordinates, etc. That way it won't need constant attention. No chance to compete with the pro pages that sell advertising to the landings.

I've been getting out quite often - for a while every week,  but not the last couple. The weather has either been raining or blowing and the fishing has sucked. The fishing is starting to blow wide open now, though. There are Yellowtail at San Clemnete Island, White Seabass at Catalina and Barracuda locally. Sould be a great season.

Yeah, old hairy Hum. That mug makes me giggle too. It's kind of an 80's era-that-taste-forgot look. It looks like all you need to add is some BeeGees music and he's start bustin a Vinny Severino move.

Wow, how long have you been there?  You have picked up so much accurate information - even people's motives.  You hit it right on the head!
Especially about the Filipinos' perception of women who marry foreigners.  My husband would glare at people looking at us and then whisper, yes some people do that.  He thought they were making comments about him so I explained that it was because I was with him that they were acting so rudely. My own mother thought I was marrying him for his money (I'm still trying to locate it) which doesn't say a lot about me but says a lot about how little she knows of her daughter...LOL!
I insisted absolutely no PDA when we were in the PHilippines even when we were engaged.  I could handle the stares and whispering but I was concerned for my husband.  Over here, he is very surprised at how affectionate I am in public.

You're one Kano no one will ever worry about that's for sure.  Are you sure you're not Pinoy?

Hi Mita,
Well, I have spent a total of about 10 months here, and my degree is in Psychology, so I guess that it is just natural for me to try to understand the world around me.
I still don't understand everything, and probably never will.  But, I do try to take the time to learn from those around me.  Most Filipinos will explain the good and the bad to you, if you take the time to ask them.
Thanks for you comments,

Don

Hi Don,

That is some very useful information for guys courting Filipinas. It was very interesting for me also. It reinforces my belief that I was very fortunate to have found my wife and also thankful for her family. I was never asked for anything and have always been treated well (pampered)...even to this day, 3 years later. No sex chat or nude photos...not even of me in my purple G-string. ;o))) My wife was a non-cellphone owner and non-Internet user. Good luck in your quest!

I can agree with 95% of that.

"But, in reality, the Filipina is having to endure many angry looks from other Filipinos."

I don't remember getting a lot of angry looks from Filipinos on my last trip in Davao with Sallie. But I do remember giving plenty of dirty looks at old fat bald kano's with there 18 year old girl friend on a shopping spree! I never really cared for Cebu. Have you been over to Dumaguete yet?

Hi Hum,
I like Dumaguete a lot, it is a really nice town to rent a scooter, and do a little roaming around.  The boardwalk is really nice, as long as the wind is blowing in the right direction.

Sometimes my companion will tell me what is said to her long after it happens, taxi drivers have been pretty bad about making sexual remarks.  The women never tell you as it happens, but sometimes you learn about it after.
Maybe it is the worsening economy, but I am sensing a little more hostility and/or jealousy from a few.
Maybe it was there when i was here before, but i am more aware of it now.
Actually a few penpals have expressed nervousness about talking to me in public, they don't like the stares from others.

Hi Don,

I've been waiting for 3 years for my wife to tell me what a rude Muslim said when we were shopping. I think she is afraid that I will return to pay him a visit. But I am not a violent person. It was all kind of humorous. All 95 pounds of her damn near threw 230 pound me into an open doorway, before she went after him. He retreated by the time I had made my way back to the street. Shocked)))
