Hello,

I am new to this list. just wanted to say hello and ask a quick question(as I have been very busy ) How much can you expect to pay for a boarding room in Cagaya de Oro? Would it be relatively inexpensive?
    Thank you

I have lived in Cagayan De Oro and will be returning there to live most likely this coming year. Prices on things can vary pretty widely- most of CDO is quite safe with the normal precautions, and I must say, taxi drivers in CDO are practically saints compared to Manila taxis.
There is a very well located and safe Pension house right downtown just one block off Divisoria called Natures Pensionne house, with Air con. It is a bit more than what was mentioned here, but it is a good place to start while you are getting familiar with the place...all night stores and even a dunkin donuts 24 hr within a block or two as well as a police station...it is a pretty good location. They are on Toribio Chavez St, though they have been there quite a while and everyone (taxis) should know where they are.
Their phone number is 088-857-1900 if you want to have your GF call them.

around $50-80 a month you have a very good boarding room. Quick Tip: do not go there or show up there and ask for a boarding room. otherwise they will rip you off! i am assuming you are an american. if you want you can ask your GF to do it for you. trust me, i am a filipino and i know thier "tricks' to foriegner...also, do not go to isolated places in Cagayan De Oro. they have nice bars..try one at the "Dynasty Hotel" they have a very classy bar upstairs and cheap drinks and 'pulotan!'

Hi Jun,

That is very true about the bottled water. My wife and I are very cautious as to actual source.

no, i don't think so, bro. if you want them to cater you, may be in some isolated areas where you could get kidnapped or in trouble.....just buy the food outside and they are also cheap....
