I just got off the phone, was talking to a lovely girl from Belarus for 2.5 hours, Saturday special rates Smiley That girl is 25.On the form she submitted to the agency, she said that she stated the maximum age of her prospective partner as 100, she said she did that as a joke of some kind. Well, on the website I got her address from the maximum age was changed to 45.
I visited a girl in Russia last November, the website that I got her address from stated that she was looking for a man up to 45 years old. When I asked her about it, she shook her head and said: nah.. (I take it she meant that 45 was too old for her). That girl was 26.
  Well, go figure...

why let them stop you?

I was three years over my wifes stated age range and two inches taller than her spec. But I've never been a man to allow little details to stand in my way, and introduced myself as such when I first wrote.

It's the same in all areas of life.

I've had successful job applications when I didn't meet the spec, just pointed out some of my other qualities.

100% right.  Point out the positives and take it from there.  As long as it is really close with no show stoppers you are fine.  A show stopper is something that you do not have that is a must for her - or vice-versa.  An example is a guy who wants a girl without kids.  If she has kids she is out - period.

Now that would make an interesting topic for discussion.

What are/were your show stoppers BEFORE you decided to write a lady?

Mine were; children, english skills, race, exotic religions, weight, ease of travel.

Others would no doubt list things like eye/hair colour, education, beauty etc.

Had I been a single parent, I think I would've looked for a lady with a child also.

Mine were the same as yours, but I would add height because some of them are too tall for me.

I have not ever initiated correspondance with a woman who's stated age requirement I did not meet.  But,I have had a lot of women who were younger then the age range stated in my personal ads write to me.  Most of them I ignored, a few I responded to with a thanks no thanks, one was persistant and I am still corresponding with her. Although, at this point she would be a back up in case things don't work out with the woman I am going to see.  I think if a lot of things other then age seem to mesh in a profile why not give it a shot?
