I have heard that the best place to meet beautiful women is in Yalta?
Is this true?
From what I heard there is an endless supply of bikini-clad women crowding the beaches during the season.
I plan on checking this out and seeing if I can meet some on my own.
Has anyone here ever been to Yalta during the summer? I would like to hear about it.
How about renting an apartment there. What would it cost me per month for a nice place?
I am guessing the "season" is July August? I just bought a new speedo bathing suit so I am ready to go!!!
I am waiting to hear.....

Guys,

Ever write something so trivial & off the wall that the following day it had such minimalistic significance to you that you felt, in your own opinion, it was not even worth explaining very much?  I rest my case.

PS. There is a time NOT to listen to the ramblings of an old man... and there is a time when you should be all ears!

Your post sounds "trolly" - I think you should more carefully research how you want to spend your summer.  However, if you're serious about a fun in the sun vacation, Yalta is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth, and, you are correct, there is no shortage of beautiful women in the Crimea.  July and August are the season, although it slacks off considerably in late August.  The parties at the local bars literally go all night.  There are plenty of beautiful women to meet, but I strongly suggest you spend a consierable amount of time learning Russian.  You're not going to score with just a new Speedo and an American flag on your butt.  If you're smart you'll have some prospects lined up in advance.  This past summer I met an AM who was in Yalta who complained he was striking out and it's tough to find anyone who speaks English.  I would suggest if you are serious about this you line up a few prospects and stay at one of the local hotels - the Oreanda is the best in my opinion, although the Hotel Yalta is nice too.  They run about $75-85 per night and are better than anything you will get on the local rental market.  If you're staying for a month, you probably should stay at the hotels and 1) see if you're making progress and, if so, 2) contact the local agents about a long term rental.  My wife, who is from that area, highly recommends you see any rental properties first.  Unlike Kiev, the quality varies considerably.

Thanks Charles. That was an informative post.
It seems like the "season" in Yalta is very short.
You think perhaps Sevastopol would be a better choice since it is a larger city than Yalta and maybe more to do?
I would have a russian speaking person with me when I am there so I would rely on her to help introduce me to the women.
I am curious why the AM was "striking out". Was it a case of the women not being friendly or a case of language barrier for him?
Also I would want to stay in an apartment. I have heard that as soon as you arrive in Yalta there are people that greet the buses and trains handing out info on apartments.

Yalta is better in my view, beaches are much nicer and definitely more to do.  You can visit Sevastopol in a day.  It is a nice and beautiful city, but more urban.  If you're going to be there for awhile, Feodosia is nice too.  I would still recommend staying in a hotel for a couple of days and picking out something nice.  Yes, you will have opportunities when you get off the bus, but if you're there for a month you'll want something you like.

How long will it take me to get from Odessa to Yalta?
How about the temperature in the spring April-May is it warm enough for the beach?
thanks
