We had our AOS interview this afternoon in Portland, Oregon.
Background:
K-1
Filed AOS on June 10, 2002
Received receipt from INS on August 10, 2002
Received letter for appointment for interview on August 29, 2002
Interview was on October 16, 2002 - today.
Arrived at Portland, OR INS at about 12:45pm for the 1pm interview. Went through security and handed in the appointment letter in the prescribed basket. Waited in the designated room (Rm 106) which had signs posted in several locations describing the procedure. At 1 pm they INS officers started coming into the room and calling names for interviews. The 3rd officer calling names called ours at about 1:04pm. He introduced himself and led us to his office. He pulled out our file which was about 1-inch thick (and I really didn't send that much stuff in). We sat down as he leaved through the file. He asked for our driver's licenses for ID. Irina didn't have one so we gave him her passport. He asked about bank accounts and we gave him a credit union signature document indicating that Irina had been added to my account. He asked for pictures together - we gave him one that was taken during the wedding ceremony. He asked for my 2001 tax return as I had not submitted it with the original AOS papers. He asked where we met -- internet was the answer. He typed some stuff into his computer and the printer printed some pages. He did a lot of reading while we were there and not a lot of questioning. He finally gave us a temporary green card stamp in Irina's passport. He also indicated that in about 2 years we need to submit a form I-751 to remove conditions of residences. He had Irina sign a form and took her one fingerprint on the same form. And that was it. The time was about 1:20pm.
