I have just sent in the application for the K1 Visa.  I am using the California Service center. How long on the average will it take to get a interview date. And about how long will it be until the interview in Moscow???Any helpful feed back from an "experienced" poster would be helpful.

Thanks

Be ready to start waiting is all I can say..

we had our interview July 31.  We are still waiting for the visa....from Moscow...

I do not even know what to say anymore, other then, do not plan anything, and plan on waiting a LONG time.  Be sure you know going into to this, that all this NEW admin process, is being done, without knowing how long it will take.

So my best advice, is do not beleive any "rumors".  beleie she has the visa, when she has it in hand.  Untl then, just keep on planning to visit her as often as you can.

You can expect two months from the time the INS receives your application until your application is approved and then another two months until the interview date.  My fiancee's interview is October 16 so I will advise how long from then it takes to get her visa as soon as I know.

There are several sites out there that give the timelines for the I-129, one is mentioned in another post.  Unfortunately the sites are historical and the INS and embassy situation for the K-1 visas seems to be in disarray and does not follow the historical timelines.

CSC should take from 30 to 60 days between submittal to approval.  After approval, the paperwork must get to the Moscow embassy and that takes about 30 days.  Moscow then schedules the interview which is usually about 2-4 months later.  A successful interview would mean immediate visa and travel -- that is in the past.  Currently late July visa approvals from Moscow are still awaiting the actual visa for travel -- that's 3 months delay and counting.

Good luck -- it is worth the wait.

Thanks Davet! Your explanation is what I wanted. Websites about timeline seem to be all outdated.Looks like I will have plenty of time to have that backyard swimming pool built for her.

It took me less than three weeks to get approved through the CSC about 18 months ago but things have changed now. As fas as Moscow goes, I cannot say as my wife is from Ukraine. I would venture a guess that it will take 3-4 months to get an interview but with the cr@p going on between the US and Russia right now who knows. Good luck...

This site will give you basic guidelines.

http://www.marriagebasedvisas.org/visa/k-1/index.php

Also, you will hear from the INS directly, and they will give you an estimate.

About Moscow... the news is not good. Look in the archives. There has been a lot of discussion about the problems in the Moscow Embassy.

Rough Estimate: You are probably looking at a four to six month wait from this point until she is here.

But... from what I am told... a year from now, you won't even remember the wait. (I'm not sure I believe that... but that's what I'm told...)
