I have my regular doc and he comes in with this woman. I could see immediately she was foreign. He introduces her as Tatiana and that she is doing a rotation in family practice at their clinic (part of a teaching hospital). I ask her where she is from and she says Russia! So I say "Privyet, Oh-cheen-priyaght-na" and she breaks into this huge grin! LOL! The doc is like "whoa!, you speak russian?" and I tell him, just a little bit, that my fiance is in Ukraine.. Well, he says that he would like her to do the cursory exam if I didn't mind, then he would check back with me when she was finished.. I said sure. So as she listened to my heart, lungs, poked and stuff, we talked and she was just really excited that I knew a little Russian and had been to her hometown of Moscow! We chatted about the economy there and my girl etc.. She was really shy though for a doctor. She was a cardiologist in Moscow so she isn't a med student here, but just getting up to speed and finishing her American boards etc.. She wouldn't even ask me to take my shirt off for the exam! LOL! She isn't married (looked maybe mid 30's) and I asked her how she got here and she just said she applied for a visa and got one! She didn't elaborate. Anyway, my doc came back in and asked her how it went and she said fine, I was healthy etc.. And he smiled and said "didn't you even have him take his shirt off??" She said no, that she was satisfied with what she did.. So she left and then HE had me take my shirt off and palpated etc.. LOL! Really interesting.
She was not tall and very voluptuous, I couldn't say slim at all. Not bad looking I guess but I wasn't attracted to her myself. When I asked her if she was married and she said no, I asked her if she was looking forward to getting married here, to which she said "oh, no, I am just interested in my work, I wouldn't have time".. That made me kind of sad, and that is EXACTLY why I never had interest in meeting any physicians or dentists in the FSU! Maybe some would make time for families, but every one I ever corresponded with or actually met were typically ferociously determined to persue their medical careers full-time once here.. Not for me. Anyway, it was interesting and she was nice..
