Another Milestone

This morning I sent our I-751 (Application for removal of conditions) to INS.  My wife's 2 year green card expires in a couple of months and if things go smoothly she will soon receive her 10 year green card in the mail.  She plans to become naturalized before the 10 year green card expires.

My suggestion:  The application is simple and the supporting documentation isn't a big issure either if you have been living as a normal married couple.  However, when your wife gets her first green card (2 year conditional) I would suggest immediately reading the I-751 application form to understand what you will need and begin preparing for it then.

John F .. this IS the current fee isn't it?
INS fees have been going up exponentally ad-nauseam...like postage stamps even.
For the rest of us, the Doc Steen site found at P-L info search gives a good over-all run down on 751 filing. Let us know if a 751 interview arises. Haven't really heard about a second interview from anyone.

Yes, the price for a 10 year green card is still $145.  Can't remember the price of a 2 year green card or a 90 day visa to get married but I definately feel INS is nickel / dimeing us to death ..... no, no nickles or dimes.  They remind me of the garage mechanic in National Lampoon Vacation" when he asked Chevy Chase "How much you got?"

The reason I suggestreading the I-751 immediately after AOS to conditional status is because you need to be aware of the need to create a paper trail.  We not only had photo's of us together on vacation, but also having dinner with friends at their house, at our house, and even visiting my folks in NC in the summer when it was warm and again in the winter with coats on.  We received a letter back from IRS both years (I made mistakes) with both names and that is probably even better than copies of the return.  We collected all that so it was already collected when needed.

I'll post whether we get called for an interview or not.
