Hi,

I tried to respond to your reply on the L39 question, but I guess Patrick was doing the deletions at the same time.

Just curious.... You mentioned you go through security everyday. Do you work for an airline? If so, what do you fly?

Thanks for the offer on the L39, but all my money is tied up in getting ratings right now. I see an L39 quite alot at KPMP, but I don't think it's parked there. Probably at KFXE. Nice plane though, would love to fly it. Ah well, maybe someday.

Just lurking from the Asian board. We had an argument going too, yesterday and today. The arguments here are so much more fun to read, though. LOL!

.....

These days a CRJ, although it appears I may move to an FO on a 747-400F freighter in the future. I'm also typed in the B737 (I operate a BBJ part time), Lear 35, 45, and the Cessna CitationJet (the CJ1 and 2 model.) Due to a minor medical condition, I've delayed earning my LOA in the L39.

Not the best time to be breaking into the biz but good luck with your ratings anyway.

Lol, glad you enjoy the sparring that goes on here. It's due to the "higher" quality of ahhhh...people we have versus the Asian board, especially from certain geographical locations. ;-)

Btw, my lady is Asian also, a Thai. We've clearly learned something these EE guys haven't. ;-)

Myself, I am dating a very nice AW right now but - you never know how things will turn out - so I might be back in this next year who knows.--- right now, just wanting to see what happens/how things turn out with  a few people here. .

Good to hear about the AW, a wise move.

Hey LP,

LOL! I have no experience with EE or FSU women. I grew up in Asia, mostly in the Philippines, so Filipina's are what I was used to. If I had to say what I liked best, it's the almond eyes and natural tan that knocks me out. Wink Not to mention, they're very passionate. That's a plus. Smiley

Yeah, I know it's a bad time to get into the biz. I started before Sept. 11, but took a break waiting on a 2nd class medical through special issuance in Oklahoma. I've got it now so ready to start back. I'm 39 and not looking to go to a major, so I'm not in a hurry. Especially, with the way things are now. Of course, I do have the dream of Capt. on a Cathay Pacific 747, LOL!, but we'll see what happens. I'm flexible. I do expect to be done all the way to CFI by this time next year. I gotta pay the last 10 G's of it myself at a Part 141 school, so it will take a while

So your woman is Thai, but you post on this board? LOL!  Have you had an Eastern European girlfriend?

Just to demonstrate that I don't play favorites and have a well-earned reputation as the board contrarian -- I've also had girlfriends from Asia. Indonesia and India - to name a couple. Oh, I guess there was one from the PI as well - but that was pretty short-lived --smile--.

You guys just haven't moved UP to the gals from the FSU - yet. --smile--

with Dan on this one. I dated an American Filipina in college, great girl but I just couldn't get over her size. Too darn small. If you're a short guy, I think the asians could be your thing. If you're tall at all....not going to happen. Dan, FWIW I think you've been a little hard on MarkinTX. Just like you know LP, I know Mark and he's a good guy. I think the whole LP/MarkinTX thing was between them. Too many other people got involved.

Dan, I gotta ask you....everything okay on the home front? You seem kind of bitter, confrontational, and not like your usual mild mannered, even keeled self. The Dan I'm remembering for the last 3 + years always seemed to stay out of the fray and offer some pretty darned good advice...also kept the peace a time or two. I'm not around here much anymore but I noticed in the posting about bigots that you seemed unusually stimulated. I hope everything is fine, it's no one's business but I hope everything is fine.

... in response to Gotta agree....., posted by Mark H on Sep 3, 2002

Hi Mark (H):

Thanks for the kind words. It *is* much appreciated.

As for Mark (Tx) - while he will certainly offer a different 'spin' on things - *my* perspective is that I posted a couple of things on the board - some offering a different perspective of LP than what was being expressed at the time (NOT by Mark BTW) - and Mark (possibly due to his blinded condition - hate does that, you know) decided to address his issues with me. I responded with my viewpoint - but that did not seem to satisfy Mark. I made the point several times that we would simply have to agree to disagree, but he went unsated - obviously. Since then, he has chosen to brand me an "LP apologist" - a brand which I will happily accept if it is derived from having a positive impression of LP.

I'm not so interested in convincing Mark of anything. Frankly, I couldn't care less whatever his opinion.

As for the bitterness you see expressed - one of my 'hot buttons' is openly-expressed bigotry. It starts with the fact that I have adopted nieces and nephews that are of mixed race - and I can tell you that living in South Texas at the time, I had plenty of opportunity to confront open bigotry face-to-face. Ever been to Vidor?

It extends to the bigotry and persecution I've witnessed in my travels throughout Asia and Europe. A day spent at Dachau (near Munich) is one of the most somber and thought-provoking experiences ever (into, and through the night, I should add).

I just can't stomach it Mark (bigotry, that is). And that is what you saw on display recently.

Oh - not to forget - I have several Muslim friends. One couple has daughters the same age as my sons. The children have played together since they were babies - and will continue till they are adults, I predict. Those young, beautiful girls with their deep dark eyes will melt your heart. The thought that people would judge them because of their birthright is sickening. The parents are among the finest human beings of any race or religion I have ever met.

I have worked in more than 20 countries - and visited numerous others. I have NEVER - repeat NEVER - been treated so warmly and respectfully as when we were in Jordan - a Muslim country.

Well - you see my point. Maybe it flies in the face of certain people's beliefs about patriotism post-9/11 - but I can never blame the Muslim religion for the terrorist problems, and I think those who do are simple-minded red-necks looking for easy answers to a complex problem.

Other than that - everything's just hunky-dory --smile--.

Dan... you kill me.

I am "blinded by hate?"

Ohmigod! You take this WAAAAY to seriously.

I watch the "arguments" on here with all of the personal involvement of watching the Jerry Springer show.

It amazes me... on some level even fascinates me... and then I shake my head and change the channel...

But... to think that I get emotionally involved with either this board or Jerry Springer...

You're kidding me... right?

You mean to tell me that YOU get that involved?

Man.. you need a hobby or something...

Now, when my Penguins don't make it to the Playoffs, or my Steelers get beat by New England in the playoffs... yeah, then I get emotionally involved.

You gotta learn to pick your battles there, fella...

My UW Huskies lost to Michigan last weekend. So ------ would have preferred it otherwise but, it is no big thing in life - I will get over it. -------- but, racism and all it represents is an issue of importance to me because of the real damage that it causes - the ongoing damage.

I'm no fan of racism, believe me.

In fact, I will agree that BFH did "go off" and began slurring. But, this was after the guys started getting on him. It seems that some guys do lose their cool when attacked on here. I've seen it before.

But I think that was more a response to being attacked...

As for prejudice against Muslims, I am against it (as I stated).

However, you do have to realize that unlike most other religions, Islam has been not only been "spread by the sword", it is a tenent of their religion that this acceptable. Bin Laden did not coin the phrase: Jihad"

Are there peaceful Muslims? Yes, of course. In the same way there are militant, War-mongering "Christians."

But when Bin Laden says that he wants to start a Holy War against the US... he is not NEARLY as fringe as many people would like to believe. There are MANY people who would consider themselves "mainstream" Muslims who do believe that Islam is meant to be spread by force.

The Muslims in this country were crying out against bin Laden... but Muslims in the countries of the middle east were not nearly as vocal, were they? In fact, there were more demonstrations IN FAVOR of bin Laden, than there were against him.

Why?

I heard a very reasonable Muslim leader say: "The reason that Christians and Muslims will never co-exist is that Christians believe in free choice, but Muslims do not."

I also found it interesting that after the 9-11 tragedy, Barnes & Noble was selling books on Islam at a very rapid rate as Americans tried to "understand".

How many books on Christianity do you suppose were on sale in Afghanastan?

Americans seek to understand, and believe that everything can be reasoned out.

Not all religions or people agree with this.

Remember your history? Remember Neville holding up the piece of paper with Hitler's signature on it and declaring that he had secured "Peace in our Time?"

Some people, some countries, some religions, are simply unreasonable.

Now... Do I think all Muslims should be expelled from our country? No. Or... to be more honest... not yet.

If the attacks persist, and if they are always coming from the Muslim sector, and if it puts our society and our way of life in danger, then we do have an obligation to protect our children, our wives, and our neighbors.

We call this a "War on Terrorism" but I don't think that many Americans feel that they are in a war. If it ever truly gets to that point, BFH will seem like a moderate compared to what the American population will be crying for.

In that day, bin Laden will have his wish, and "Blood will run in the streets of America", but it will not just be American blood.

Pray that the war stays "over there" and you can continue to have the luxury of sitting here in peace and posting nice little thoughts on the internet about thoughtful TV shows you have watched in the past.

The fact is that Racism DOES exist. And there are a LOT of people out there who hate us for being Americans, and would do anything -- including die -- to destroy us.

When that racism finds its way into your neighborhood, and you have to explain to your children why their cousin can't come to visit this summer because they died in a terrorist attack... then you may find that you have lost this luxury...
