Sorry that the subject line was a bit ambiguous, but not enough room was available for the subject.

Just received a congratulations from the director of the NCIS office that took my application for marriage.  As many of you know, I am in the Navy and waited 8 1/2 months for approval of my papers to marry my wonderful Ukrainian fiancee.  During the short conversation, the Director told me that over half of the applicants that are submitted for marriage never end up getting married.

I wonder if it's the bureacracy and long wait that causes this, or changes during the relationship that give second thought to people who start the process.  I would be curious what the stats are with INS applicants, as I know that the process is a little bit less trying, though still difficult.  I do believe that those who venture to find their bride in the way that many of us are doing must be strong in their resolve and also be absolutely sure in their mutual love and committment before starting.

Just thought this stat to be interesting.  I was a catalyst to change in the military system as my persistence got our local brass involved and the people who process our papers for military overseas were called to the carpet for their lack of attention.  There were email flying from every overseas base in the world after I raised attention to the process and now a new person has been hired to the desk full time to ensure all papers are caught up and processed.  I spoke to the person hired to do this in D.C. and she agreed with me that three months was more than enough for us to be approved from start to finish.  We don't have to interview in the last step like all others. I am happy to know that the future looks bright for my fellow military who are seeking their happiness.

I do think that in many cases though, a wait is necessary to allow the prospective marriage partners to continue communication and learn more about each other.  This would be mostly for those who meet a woman and drop the papers after only one meeting and little time to know each other.  This sight has been a great asset to me over the last 19 months and given me much of the insight and ammunition I needed to press the bureacrats into action.  Many of you put much time and energy into communicating on this board and there are people like the poster before me who is a little thin skinned because of your frankness to thier questions.  This person(KingC) said in an earlier post that he was not very serious about the search for a foreign bride, but at the same time wanted everyone to expend tons of energy and time answering poorly phrased questions.  To ask if you can get more of a woman with less effort is not realistic.  Always give all of yourself to her and most of these women will die for you.

Thanks for taking time to read a long post.  V/R, Jim
