Media keeps reporting bad floods near Black Sea, but the reports never identify a specific area there.  I'm finalizing a trip to Crimea (Simferopol & Sevastopol) soon, but I can't find out where the flooding is.  Does anybody know if there's a flood situation in Crimea? Thanx --  Burt

I appreciate your information about Odessa and Simferopol regions.  Knowing this I think my trip will be OK.  Thanx again. --  Burt

It's not in Simferopol.  My wife is there now and while it has been raining, she has not mentioned any flooding.

Thanks for the reassurance.  Now I feel better about buying the non-refund tickets.  --  Burt

The flooding is in the Caucauses and Novorossisk area.  This is north of Sochi.  Last summer I was in the village of Abrau-Durso near Novorossisk.  It is a beautiful town on the shore of a lake.  Anyway, it is completely flooded and many of the homes there were destroyed.  There has been no flooding in Crimea, although I believe this area has had a large amount of rain.

Burt,

My wife has been in Feodosiya the last several weeks,  and I will arrive there on Saturday.  She reports some unsettled weather and periods of rain, but no flooding.  Her parents, who last week began a trip to Sochi (by car), were turned back by the authorities due to the flooding problems in that area.  She has mentioned that Feodosiya is really crowded with tourists this year, perhaps the effort to increase tourism in the Crimea is working.
