Okay, AFTER "badgering" my contacts AGAIN, as near I can figure (cutting through all the B.S.)and "seeing" what the State Dept. is "saying" is:

There may be a bit of a "backlog" "now" BUT once this system gets "caught up" HOPEFULLY the K-1 process (her getting her "sticker" the following day) will get back to where it should be.

Is this INDEED what will happen? Who knows but it "seems" like the Govt. needed to "adopt" this policy WAY before this time and at LEAST let someone know what the deal was and not leave everyone "hanging".

I have a client who's "situation" is a NIGHTMARE. I told him NOT to book tickets, a hall, get invitations printed etc. UNTIL she got her "visa" and arrived in the USA, but he did not NEED to listen to any advice.

So he is ROYALLY SCREWED and out a TON of cash as she is "postponed" with this NEW policy.

Even the Embassy had on their site at one time DO NOT purchase "advance" tickets.

I have been in my business of doing K-1's for  a lot of years and can't understand WHY people ASK for advice and do not follow it.

I know this really has nothing to do with anything but I thought maybe NOT finding yourself in this same situation would make a few of you feel better!!!

From what you've said Mark, the issue is the background check (FBI or otherwise).

That was the same in my case - the name check held up the setting of my interview date which caused an overall delay in the process of a few weeks.

I suppose if you are saying that the *entire* process will require extra time (who knows - 45 - 60 - 90 extra days?) but that by the time they establish the interview date, all the necessary background investigations will be concluded so they can issue the visa promptly following the interview, then I suppose (from what we know now - or don't know now --smile--), it seems the likeliest outcome.

Dan,
I am hoping that all will get back to normal soon.
