Having sampled several, the best I have found is Pimsleur.  Their method definitely works.  You can check them out at

Many local libraries have volume I of the Russian course in CD or audio tape, so you can try it before you make a major investment.

Looks pretty good so I ordered it.  I'll post my opinion of it after I get it and try it a little.

Patrick - I like the new front page design.  Much better organized and more professional looking!
