to send this to RW that you know.  Keep it for yourself and remember some of the good parts and you might mention one of two of them at appropriate times (In a joking way or if they are concerned about something related) but to just send the list and say “This is so true.”  Would be shallow and stupid not to mention quite insulting.

... in response to Cultural Clash  America-Russia, posted by juio99 on Jul 1, 2002

It was a great post and I am going to send it to my Ukrainian Fiance.  She is going to send me some additional superstitions that have been passed down from generations to her so that the readers can have a smile and understand the uniqueness of the woman they will spend their life with.  I personally love these things and they add some spice to my relationship.  While I am waiting for my fiancee to send these, here are couple that I have observed or heard from her.

1.  Never take the trash out at night.  If you do, you will suffer financial hardship in your life.

2.  Don't make any major decisions or conduct important business on Monday.  It's bad luck and the outcome of such will not be as positive as other days of the week.  My fiancee always is alarmed when I tell her that I am going to do check on our papers, make a big decision, etc...and she asks me to wait another day.

3.  Don't wash your hair on Monday.  Showers are okay, but you cannot wash your hair on this day.  My fiancee always washes her hair at the latest hour possible on Sunday night and again at midnight on Tuesday.  I don't know the rational behind this one, but it was her grandmother that taught her this as a child.

4.  These women always keep every bag and stash them in case they are needed.  It's because bags cost money in Ukraine and they must be taken in the purse every time they go out of the house to buy something.  When my fiancee left me after two visits in Iceland, I had to throw out at least 40 bags each time that accumulated from our grocery shopping.
