Hollywood has produced a movie about the Soviet Union's first nuclear powered SLBM capable submarine - K-19 - and its tragic maiden voyage. It is a true story of heroism and Cold War naval, submarine and nuclear ballistic missle rivalry. I think the time setting should be early 60s.
We preceeded the Soviets development of SLBMs with the famous Polaris missle a few years ahead of the K-19, which had to surface to fire unlike the Polaris which was capable of being launched while the sub was submerged.
Harrison Ford portrays the famous and brave Russian sub captain who refused to let the sub fall into NATO hands despite terrible circumstances. So it should be a good show.
